Previously, when the black night-edition Mercedes badges became available for the W205, there was a huge thread with people researching which part number could be retrofitted to the W204.
It seems that now Mercedes has decided to ship all new AMG cars with AMG hood badges. Which fits the W204? Nobody tried this yet? surely, I must be wrong..

 

I saw this badge being sold on ebay that looked decent but never ended up ordering it to see if it fits. As far as I can tell the OEM 206 badge isn't gonna work on our cars but that's just eyeballing from youtube videos, could be totally incorrect on that

Sorry but from the photo, I see an MB badge and not AMG

 

I figured OP was talking about the night package oem hood emblem. Otherwise everything else would be aftermarket, similar to what others mentioned. Then you could get it off ebay or amazon.

 

He is talking about the new w206 c63 badge also used on other new amg cars, it is an oem black amg affalterbach hood emblem.

I have this badge, it's an aftermarket and not OEM. If the OEM fits, it's probably the only piece from the W206 I'll put on my car 🤣

 

Why can't China at least copy the current AMG logo properly, it should look like this, the tree should be half the tree not all of it and the A should only be sloped on one side, if they did the right logo I would just buy the knock off but I want it to be an accurate copy at least, so holding out for the W206 one also.

 

So true. They go to all the trouble to do this, (and things like this), but can't be bothered with the last 10% of effort to do it correctly. Oddly, I'm sure they think it's perfect somehow. Maybe they think it's close enough, they won't notice, why would they care, or ours is better anyway because they cut the tree in half and messed-up the A? Who knows? Lol!

Maybe the logo have been updated lately as this is the AMG logo on my engine from 2010.

 

That's weird, as my 13' coupe has the "normal" AMG badge, so can't explain why yours is so different.

Jokes aside, would guess the logo was changed between 2010 and 2013, googeling "AMG logo" I get plenty results of both logos. Anyhow I would prefer the OEM w206 as I believe the quality is better. For now Im'm just sticking the the blue MB

 

Yes the logo did change, the china logo is some combo of the old and new it seems - they do the full tree like the old logo but the 3 leaf things on each side like the new logo instead of the 2 from the old logo and varies between knock offs but never have seen one 100% accurate to the one used for the last 15 years.

 

So, once again:
In the past the options were:
OEM regular blue MB badge for the hood.
OEM Night line black MB badge for the hood
Aftermarket AMG badge for the hood.

Now?
You can possibly have an OEM AMG Badge for the hood?
Why?, because MB ships now EVERYTHING AMG with AMG badges on the hood.

Maybe one fits W204?

I just didn't like knowing that I have an aftermarket hood badge. But if an OEM AMG Badge would fit the W204 hood, I would like it.

I see nobody came up with a fitting part number for the newer OEM AMG Hood badges.

Let's see what the W205 guys have been up to..
I bet they are busy fitting OEM AMG hood badges to their cars. If it fits a W205, it will fit a W204..

And once again, in more detail:
Mercedes has many many kinds of hood badges that on the outside look the same.
By example: My GLA45 AMG has the night line hood badge. It has the same outer diameter as my C63. I took both out and tried to swap them. Doesn't work, because the mounting mechanism is different.
But: even if the W206 C63 AMG Badge doesn't work, it could be that the current GLC 63 does, because it too has a AMG hood badge. Or maybe the A35 AMG, it too has an AMG Badge., etc. There are probably 15 part numbers for current AMG hood badges, the probability is high that one of the 15 will match.

So what we need here is a parts guy that drives a W204 C63 and can try on several part numbers...

See how the mounting pins are different? Thats why my guess is it wont fit, but maybe can be retrofitted.


The ebay link I posted before has the "correct" logo and should fit our cars. Quality looks okay for the price but not matched with OEM.

 

So there's a large pin, a small pin positioned symmetric to the center crease., while the W204 has them offset from eachother. I think that the X156 (GLA45) has them like the W206.
The fix would be to redrill the holder mechanism, but going for OEM, I wouldn't want to do that.
