Are we thinking it’s totaled?
Hey everyone
sad day today, got hit by a drunk driver who ran a red light at an intersection
everyone was fine but not my 507
it was a front impact and all 3 driver airbags deployed
from the pictures do you guys think it’s gonna be declared as totaled? / chassis damage?

If they do try to total gather lots of data on recent sales and make sure they value it properly as values are very high on 507’s. They f they try to fix it go after diminished value as it will be worth 10-15k less in the future with a major accident on the record.

You can save it if you do your homework. I had this happen a few years ago. Limited production car, and they were basing the values off of the standard versions (which were roughly 50% less valuable than the car in question). So the insurance company needed to be educated on what this version was really worth, since the adjusters are usually not 'car people', they are people using formulas and spreadsheets of common data. Bottom line, it took extra time, but I was able to secure a proper value for the car, which is all that matters when they are looking at the percentage cost of repairs versus the market value of the car. So, you can save it if you do your homework and are able to show comps for other 507s on the market that are similar in age and mileage to yours. Don't just take what the insurance company says at face value, as there is usually a clause that allows you to dispute their value and get your own valuation done. I only found all of this out because I had to do this myself, and it worked.
Good luck! Let me know if you need any other pointers. All insurance companies are a bit different, but no matter if you want it fixed or totaled, you will want your house in order to make sure you are not stiffed on the real value of a very special car.

It looks fixable but I would rather they total it, the value is going to tank after a hit like that.
It would make for a nice race car project tho if you buy it back and fix it up!

Sorry but this is totaled. Don’t accept it any other way. Make sure it’s estimated by a Mercedes authorized repair shop (not the insurance companies shop) as their repairs cost the most. Just by what I see it’s at least 35k in damage.
Good luck and diy research is your best friend. Start gathering comps.

If it is insurance write off is there any clause that you have first chance at buying it back at the highest auction bid price. Just wondering if that allows you to repurchase it and carry out the repair independently yourself.

If you do part it out, I would like to put that white interior into my Diamond White C63 Black Series. Would be pretty neat.

What they had to do to repair it.
There was a lot of damage to the structure in the trunk.
