Oil temperature running a little high?

I've had my C63 about 4 years now and put 120k on the clock. My oil temps when cruising are usually between 212F-221F. The other day I take the car out, now all of a sudden, it's running at 222F-234F. I haven't done anything with the vehicle as far as work between my last time driving and this temp issue starting. My last oil change was about 2K miles ago but this only started yesterday.

This only happens when cruising. When I come to a stop or come upon traffic, it actually goes back down to 212F-222F range, then goes back up essentially right after I start moving again.

The coolant temps appear unchanged.

Obviously these aren't highly concerning temps, at least not yet, and I'd like to keep it that way!

I consistently run 105C-106C (221F-223F) when cruising and up from there if I start to push it. Sounds to me like your auxiliary oil cooling system has a problem with the thermocouple that controls the temperature it opens up at or perhaps the fan on the fender heat exchanger. The other thing you might check is to see if perhaps you picked up a plastic bag or something that is blocking air flow through the auxiliary oil coolers. GL figuring this out.

Thanks for the info. I looked as best I could under the car and in the engine bay at the gas station when I noticed it at first, everything appeared clear. When I have time I'll put her up on ramps and check the duct work underneath.

That's normal operating temperatures, mine always stays around 225-230 in 90* weather.

I'm going to be installing a Blackboost Thermostat to run in the summer to help with engine and oil temps now that I'm supercharged.

It was only 75-80F out. The part that seems the strangest to me as that the temps actually come back down when im at at a red light or sitting in traffic, but right back up again when I start rolling.

I'm in FL and it's hot here. I've got it up to 240, maybe 245 once when doing some pulls. "Normal" driving puts me around 220-225 in manual mode. Comfort mode will give you the lowest temp.

the engine ECU monitors when the vehicle is moving and at a stop. when the vehicle is moving oil cooler fans may turn off as the ECU is expecting that air flow should be enough to cool down the oil cooler. with a proper tune, these variables can be altered so fans kick on sooner and ramp up harder at lower temps than standard.

I hit 235 to 240 regularly on the twisty back roads where I live. However I’m pushing it hard as there is no traffic or people.

Is it possible you aren't driving fast enough?

I've noticed that at 60-70 mph I run much warmer than at 70-80mph, like nearly 10-15 degrees higher at a lower speed.

You've stated "cruising" so I imagine you're following the speed limits where you're posted but thought that could be relevant but if you're already in an area where 70-80 is the limit more or less than it becomes moot.

Mine always feels too hot but some of the folks here are regularly in the 230-240 range but i tend to stay between 210-230 if im moving as fast i'd like too.

Elevation might be relevant as well but unless you're in the mountains probably not.
