I need some help with my 2013 c63. I started the car from a cold start and it started to misfire really bad, i pulled the codes and it showed this
P0637 Misfiring of cylinder 5: Damages TWC(P0305)
P0649 Misfiring of cylinder 6: Damages TWC(P0306)
P0661 Misfiring of cylinder 8: Damages TWC(P0308)
P1204 Alternating adjustment of exhaust camshaft of left cylinder bank in direction Advanced or Retarded.(P0019)
P1212 Alternating adjustment of intake camshaft of left cylinder bank in direction Advanced or Retarded.(P0018)
I cleared the codes and started the car again and it threw the same codes except it didn't misfire on cylinder 5 only 6 and 8
one of the camshaft adjusters has been ratting on the driver side (UK car) so i'm lost why it's just threw all those codes on the other bank
Could the adjusters just fail or could it be a sensor?
What could cause this, any help would be appreciated
If the oxygen sensors are bad would that not throw o2 sensor codes?
not always the system sometimes doesn't know they are bad and thinks they are being accurate with their bad signals. And this the car thinks other things are off and runs off.
I threw these codes at 100k miles and it was the cam adjusters.
126k miles currently. pulled the valve covers off and both cam adjusters on bank 2 have good amount of play in them, bank 1 intake cam adjuster has play as well
No idea how bank 1 didn't throw the codes since that one seems to be where the rattle is coming from.
I have the 63 motorsport adjuster plates ready to go in so hopefully this is the issue and will update if it resolves it
When turning the engine to 40 degrees only one bank would align with the timing tool, i removed the passenger intake cam adjuster to get a better look at the timing chain tensioner and found a small fragment what looks to be off the timing chain tensioner, Looks like a good chunk is missing from it so guess its time to check for valve damage
Any thoughts on what could of caused this or just down to bad luck?
