Aftermarket exhaust tips

Anyone put aftermarket tips on their stock mufflers? What did you use?

I have headers and a custom midpipe. Love the sound but not a fan of the dated oval tips.

I'd go with whistle tips if I was doing it. Definitely modern and updated.

The only other options in my opinion would be the BS squarish tips. I still wouldn't change them though.

They looked fantastic in 2003. Now they look like they looked fantastic in 2003.

I liked those on my E63. Dont like them enough to go go the trouble of swapping to them.

Guess I will be the guinea pig with some nice round, probably black tips.

Most of the car is dated in comparison to modern cars. To me it looks like it should for a car that originally landed in 2008.

But by then the oval tips had been hanging around since W202 (and all other AMGs from that era). So they were already ten years old when they put them on this car. Now they look like ancient relics, even on a 2008 body style.

I think round tips will be a nice update.

I love my 4” round tips from Jones Exhaust. Not OEM mufflers but they’re weldable to anything.

You made me curious so I was poking around to see what it would like. Have to say that while I like the circular, I still like the ovals better and I think it provides a nice signature rear end for the car.

Nice. That's what I had in mind. I will probably do something similar in black.

Not a fan of factory rolled tips in general, but even then I prefer the round ones. The oval just screams "old" AMG to me.

Keep in mind the H/Y pipe tip replacements will not fit your stock mufflers, you will have to have individual tips side by side.

We have bolt-on carbon exhaust tips available on our site.

H/Y?
Yeah I was planning on buying four individual tips. Any idea what the outside diameters of the stock muffler outlets are? They look like 2.25-2.5.

Yes, both are the single inlet and dual outlet versions meant for non-amg models. The stock c63 muffler is dual outlet, so as you mentioned, 4 tips.

They should match the full pipe diameter of 2.5"

Yes, exhaust tips definitely change the sound. Quad tips will have a more refined and smooth out the sound.

The larger they are the deeper they'll sound.

Update:
Got these tips on the car yesterday. I'm happy with the look but the job sucked. Lots of obnoxious cutting and welding to make these work with the stock mufflers.

The muffler outlets are 2.0" into a flared, trumpet-shaped section that the oval tips are welded to. Using these tips required separate 2.0" to 2.5" reducers and a lot of patience.
