Engine wire harness installation
#3
well picking up a 2009 c63 and it’s wiring harness looks like it’s been messed with since the throttle body connector won’t connect in, weird and there’s 2 wires that have an open end on the drivers side not sure where that is coming from but the car cranks but does not start, has new battery, starter and the owner changed cam gear adjust plates on passenger side and then the drivers side went but engine wants to start and he is saying it’s because of the drivers side cam gear plate. The intake manifold PCv valve is not OEM it’s been made into a bypass as you can see the blue tubes in the image. So I’m gonna get OEM tubes and the check valve and put that area back to stock.
i know these cars have cam adjuster plate failure and head bolts too so I will be getting the upgraded head bolts for it and adjust plates from 63 motorsports but owner is saying the drivers side adjuster plates needs changing and I doubt it’s only that which needs replacing to start or else it would
start, I believe it’s because of the throttle body connector that’s not going in which is not causing the car to start…
see pics.
he has replaced 2 coils already, battery, passenger side cam gear, starter.

Wow, all I can think to say is that one sure looks unloved. Just based on looks, I would pass unless the guy is giving it away. Even then I might still pass. It's a shame such a great car went to the wrong person. It looks to me like it may have been submerged.

so he basically looked after it well, there’s images of the car before he showed me when it was clean and looked after, but then you know the common failures with these cars are the adjuster plates and he does not know of that and that’s why he’s going through a lot with the car. He doesn’t have the time to fix it and let a workshop figure it out and now it will drain him more money so he’s selling it at a steal.
I can fix it up, repair the adjuster plates with 63 Motorsport ones and with new coils and maybe get new lifters while I’m at it, new AGM battery and hope for the best!

Saudi Arabia!! Ha, my bad, sorry. Ok well good luck and I'm glad you got it for a good price. I would start with a compression test and popping the valve covers off to have a look. You just want to go slow and make sure it's not a can of worms before you sink money into it. Best

The wiring harness can be replaced with the engine in place, the hardest part will be disconnecting the oil temp sensor connector behind the AC compressor. You'll have to drop the subframe a few inches to move the AC compressor out of the way.

So compression is fine. I got some parts for it already, coil pack kit, updated head bolts, all the gaskets needed to do this job, adjuster plates from 63 motorsports, intake manifold gaskets, wheel speed sensor (ABS) too as it needs replacing and might even upgrade the lifters to black series ones while im at it.
Hopefully its just the passenger side cam gear plates that went out causing it to not start, ECU shows these codes.
