Exhaust options
Hey Guys,
I have a 2012 c63 coupe performance pack, only purchased 3 months ago and have been absolutely loving the car. I have huge plans for it in terms of building the engine and interior and exterior with a 200+ line spreadsheet with every part and pricing (I'm a bit OCD with this stuff). My reason for posting is firstly for my exhaust and downpipes I originally picked Valvetronic as I have heard good things but my tuner whom I've worked with for years (based in Australia) said that Xforce was just as good and cheaper so I should be using that. Secondly they also told me that Xforce was the only company that makes headers that will fit for right hand drive (difficulty with steering rack and column). What are your guys thoughts and do you have any other recommendations? The exhaust system will definitely need to be valved as my neighbours will lose their mind.

Make sure to check, but in my own research, valved exhausts do almost nothing for the cold start bark on these. I asked a few owners and it seems it really only helps with more throttle input than a cold start.
That's a deal breaker for me as that's my main concern.
Also, don't cheap out on headers. Cheap ones don't provide the gains good sets provide,and they really do wake up with a good set, and some are prone to breaking, making it a near useless mod.

Id find a shop that will fabricate you a catback system with valves. Nothing on the market right now is that great. All the good stuff has mostly been discontinued. As for headers run away from china. The header flanges aren't flat and will cause issues. The material they use is nearly impossible to mill flat for machine shops.

If I could do it over again, I'd get ARH or IPE headers off the bat. Headers were my first mod and I got MBH because of killer sale they had going on. Now when I switch to ARH headers in the near future I'll have to pay for labor again

I am speaking only in terms of performance as they are true longtime headers. If you want to keep the signature AMG bark make sure to stick with an H pipe and stock mufflers.
