C63 AMG SEDAN 2013 (PP)
Small metal pieces

Hi you all,
1st oil change after installing a Supercharger on the car and found small pieces of metal in the engine oil filter....non magnetic pieces and small savings of metal as well...is it the tappets ? And i occassionally get rattling sound on startup and goes away after few sec...my car has done 35k kms and only 5k kms after installing SC.

My guess is when we drilled the crankshaft to install PTG crank pulley ,small pieces might have gone through and this is my 1st oil change after installing SC, but will never know until I open and check the valve cover....Has anyone faced the same issue?

I have found that any time a screw is threaded into the block, you can get shavings from that process. I like to change my oil relatively quickly after any sort of preventative maintenance that might do this. An example is a cam cover reseal. New bolts will create shavings.

do a short oci and monitor. Pull plugs and boroscope if super concerned.

I don't believe that doing,pinning, the crank would cause that much metal in the filter. You would really have to go some to do that and the shavings would be at the bottom of the pan.
Those bigger pieces are not drill bit shavings either.

I didn't find the oil having any metallic flakes but I will be pulling the valve cover to check lifters...
