Hello! I have had my beloved 2012 C63 Black Series for almost (4) years, and around 30,000 happy daily driver miles now. Over the winter I started thinking that a new set of wheels may spice up the car, and also save the OEM wheels from any damage, as I want to retain those for the car's originality. What I am running into is a lot of people having challenges or refusal to spec wheel options for the car because the Black Series has a unique fitment from the normal C63. I really wanted to do a set of gold BBS wheels with a deep polished lip, but BBS said they don't have any wheels for the car at all. HRE can make some, but I have had (3) sets of HREs, and really cannot justify their current pricing when there seem to be a lot of high quality alternatives for half the price. If they had a really unique style, then that may change my opinion, but that is a different conversation.

But, the point of my post is this. I want to stay with 19 inch wheels because I live in the Midwest where the roads are largely garbage, and the car is a daily driver. So, it needs to be able to be used all the time without bending wheels every day by going to 20 inch like almost everyone is trying to get me to do when I inquire about wheels. So, if I stay with 19 inch, how much wider can I make the wheels without rubbing, and which offsets would be recommended for those widths? Car is at standard ride height, and will stay that way so I can clear speed bumps, get in and out of parking garages, and so on. Ideally, I would like to increase the widths by maybe 0.5 - 1 inch in the front, and probably 1 inch in the rear to ad a deeper rear lip. What other factors might I be missing? OH! What about brake clearances? What do I need to allow for on the inner wheel barrels for these to clear?

My best advice would be to go with 19” BBS but you will need to do a few things.

First let AR Motowerkz make you a custom set to fit the car perfectly but you will need to go to a 380mm front disc to fit 19” front wheels as the 390mm will not fit under 19” and 20” will ride awful.

You can buy 380mm front brembos that are exactly the same as the 390mm then fit a different brake caliper bracket. Thats what I did and the upside is they save 2kg a disc over the 390mm.

Also get rid of the stock KW suspension on the black series and fit KW clubsport with camber adjustable top mounts as you will need them.

Any wheel is possible you just need to have the money, time, knowledge and right people doing the work.

 

Also on a black series pretty pointless only going up them widths.

You want to looking at 19x9.5 inch 265/35 front & 19x11.5 inch 305/30 rear (maybe even a 315/30)

 

If stock c63 can fit a 265 front, Black series should be able to rock atleast a 285

 

No chance a stock C63 can run a 265/35 without over 3 degree front camber and rolling the fenders. Max is 255/35.

 

Thank you. I appreciate the input. I want to keep my OEM brakes and suspension, as they are special to the Black Series. So, I want to retain as many of these Black Series specific parts as possible, while updating the wheels for a new look, but also to save the OEM Black Series wheels from damage since replacements are going to be a challenge to find in the coming years if something were to happen to them. There has to be a way to get 19s made to fit this properly, as the car already has 19s on it. Hmmmm.

 

Yes, I am beginning to think that going wider is a must do in this case.

 

You won’t be able to fit 19” BBS wheels with 390mm due to the instep of the barrel, so if you want BBS you will have to get 380mm brembo discs same as the 390mm which are better anyway or have it ride awful on 20”.

I doubt you will get any 2 or 3 piece wheels to fit with 390mm discs.

 

Well, shoot. I may have to go to 20 inch wheels then. Because I don't want to start removing and replacing the OEM brakes and suspension. Thank you for the information. I didn't know that was going to be a deal stopper for 19s.

 

Very good advice! 11,5 inch at the rear is max. but possible. I had SLS Black Series 20x12 inch on my C63 Black Series some days ago…. but in Germany forbidden. SLS Black Series has 19x10 at the front

 

Well I did it with, and with a Toyo R888, At max full lock turn it would rub a touch on the inside of the frame rail but wasn't even noticeable other than the rubber mark left behind. It didn't even rub on the fender liners. No my car isn't lowered or camber'd. Got to have the right wheel offset. cope.

 

I would rather change front discs to the same disc but 380mm with all the benefits than run a 20” wheel and tyre with a lot of negatives.

 

I've heard that the new BBS CH-R wheels fit really well on the C63 Black Series, but you gotta make sure you get the correct offset to avoid any rubbing issues. Has anyone else gone with these wheels or do you know a good resource for wheel fitment advice?

 

I will second this... 20" tire selection is trash, wheels will bend much easier and ride much rougher with less sidewall as well. I'd downgrade to the 380 or peasant C63 360mm brake rotors before going to 20"

 

I'd keep researching until you find 19s you like that will fit over the stock brakes.
I wouldn't alter a Black Series other than a shoe swap for a new look and to save the crazy expensive OEM wheels. Aren't they Alcoas?
