I saw the ‘standard’ ambient lightning on a base c300; not bad but definitely lacking the the strip in the center console and along the bottom of the dash. This is what comes standard on the c43.
We’ll have to shell out an additional $2800 for the ‘enhanced’ ambient lighting, which is packaged in the pinnacle trim.
oh I guess you found out already : P, guess I am late with my reply then xD

No worries, glad you had an answer. A salesman just happened to be relocating the c300 on the sales floor, therefore I got a chance to observe the standard lights. Pretty nice how they stay on well after the car turns off, but definitely a significant difference between the standard and enhanced lighting we see in all the pics/videos.

For sure, the enhanced ambient lighting is pretty much mandatory imo. I think I left out something, if I am not mistaken, without enhanced ambient lighting, there is no light beneath the window switches as well...
they certainly know how to lock things behind packages! standard ambient is more than enough for me. Looks way too much like a 14 year olds gaming corner with the enhanced. But I've never been one to care about interior lighting. Even when it was all the rage to swap to LED bulbs, etc.
I'm already at 9250 in options.. and I think I need to add the dinamica wheel over the standard to match the seats.

If I remembered correctly at least on the W213 (might be wrong), you can choose which zones are lit and at what brightness to set it to when you want to change the mood other than just changing the colour, even if you do get the enhanced, imo it is good to have it when you don't need it than need it and don't have it. That being said, ambient lighting is certainly subject to personal preference, if you know you won't ever need it, obviously you should save the money for some other option : )
Thank you sir. I greatly appreciate your work Eaton.
also just realized the 20 inch wheels are like a facelift of the an optional GT 4 door wheel
My order has the standard w/o black accents so was trying to get an idea of what those would look like. Haven't been a huge fan of how dark the grey accents have been but if they are lighter I think it could look good with the silver body paint. Think the black accents are probably better in general to disguise the weird outer ring and make it kind of disappear.
Things are happening more or less on schedule. 4 months for build. another 2 at VPC... if we're lucky. December delivery? Might be sooner if stars align.
gonna let the order ride for now - there's honestly a handful of ways I would spec the car
the black accent vs not is a trippy one. I might just powdercoat them black after the fact anyways. black accent ones kinda lose depth but hide the weird ring. If the car wasn't some shade of silver/grey I'd go black accent and not worry lol.
Checked in with my salesman this morning. He didn’t provide me with an order number yet, but confirmed that my name is on a car. Even more interesting is that they are only getting two allocations. Not surprising, but very indicative of the times we are still in. This is a Herb Chambers dealership outside of Boston, the largest dealership network in the state.
Things are moving along. Apparently the allocation has been received for my unit (the 1st one!). I need to start locking down a spec soon but still would like to know where base pricing is going to start.
I also have the first allocation on an RS3 so gauging which way I want to go....
I submitted an order request right after the announcement, and a month later, my dealer sent me this "order" picture (below). This is my first time ordering a Mercedes, so I'm in the dark about what the different stages in the delivery process are and the different terms people use to describe the stages and the overall process. Could someone please explain (1) what the different stages in the delivery process are and (2) where I am based on my "order"? Sorry if these are basic questions--some guidance would be much appreciated.

It basically goes from order request -> PO# creation (by factory) -> small period to make changes -> production -> shipping -> waiting at US VPC for release to dealer.
Ask if you have a PO# yet. If you do, you have a confirmed build and your dealer should see an estimated production date.

Thanks. What does the build sheet he sent me signify, if anything?

Looks like an order request (the first step). No PO# is visible, so you should ask if they have one yet, or to provide it to you when they see one created.
Eaton is all over it. Listen to him for your questions lol
I would normally say big dealerships would be the right place to get a PO from more quickly because they have more allocations. From my understanding, if your dealer gets 2 allocations on c43 for the first decade of production and those two are spoken for - you will have to wait for more allocations to your specific dealer. Which may just be future decades for production, but with build dates pushed out further.
We have a fleet with my dealer - my SA just seems to keep me updated which is half the battle - I'm not really getting any special treatment through this process. Communication is key.
In these strange times the demand at a smaller dealer might be non existent or customers simply don't know the car is released, unless a SA is peddling the announcement, so you might get an allocation easier at a smaller dealer. At the end of the day, if you have a relationship with a SA - keep it but if you don't and you are eager for the car, shop around.
I don't think a later decade is a bad thing if you're 1. concerned with pricing or 2. not in a hurry or even 3. concerned with options not being equipped on your build. I've been reading w206 c300 forums - the cars aren't exactly ironed out lol
My lease was up as of this past May, so I am eager.
