Especially when they brag about it being "Real" Performance sound as in actual sound coming from the exhaust playing through the speakers.
When Mr.Benz was on the autobahn, everytime he downshifts the sound is completely muted for like a second and then comes back, it is almost like the engine is off for that brief second, it might had been less than a second but that was super artificial.
How is this "Real"? The pops as he mentioned was also super artificial and I agree with him. Honestly disappointed which is sad because I was looking forward to this, being how great the W205 C 43 is, I was really looking forward to the successor. In MB's defence, regulations, filters and what not is nothing something they can control. At least the driving dynamics, handing, performance all has been improved.

I wonder if they actually will get it right on the C 63, I am not sure if they deliberately did this on the C 43 and reserved something better for the C 63 W206....

The c63 will have like 100 more HP from the same 4 cylinder - so it should sound better just from being wringed out that much more.

Yeah, was it the ford focus RS that had a similar complaint about the burble? I remember seeing reviews complain that it's obviously synthetic when it's identical everytime. Like, record 3 variations and just randomly rotate, you'll fool 70% of people lol. I am almost certain that car is specc'd with the True sound package - which, yes, if you don't spec it the car may be quieter but at least it's not embarrassing.

re: C 63 Ya, hopefully : ) and I wishful thinking that there is some sort of mini project one sound : P?

I guess the first thing people will do when getting this car will be an OPF delete (if legal somehow) or custom exhaust, downpipes etc. Saying that is before PPF etc. That is how desperate we are (should) to restore this car's sound that it deserves...

My thoughts are all over the place with this car right now lol.
I‘ve watched a few of the reviews and I have gone from impressed, to slightly disappointed and everything in between…
For me, the pros are the increased wheel size (20”), increased overall length, some of the new tech, panamericana grill, amg seats and the hand-made engine.
The rear axle steering, capacitive touch seat controls, electrified turbo and digital lights are are innovative features I suppose, but did anybody really ask for these ???
The cons for me are the exhaust note, the forced performance exhaust sound through the cabin as opposed to opening up the valves, the wheel design options and the reduction of two cylinders.
The performance seems adequate and the overall experience exemplifies the direction AMG is going.
I’m really looking forward to pricing. I’m comfortable paying ~65k for this car. Anything above 70k for this just wouldn’t sit well with me.

for me, the new car looks awesome, has a higher redline, more sophisticated gearbox (which should really shine after the software update), hand-built engine, rear axle steer, proper/conventional tires over it's predecessor and I'm probably forgetting some things.
The LCI M340 is definitely the pick in the segment IMO for pure sport sedan. MB just offers too many benefits in my case - I have a fleet with my company and I like the perks. Plus the BMW does nothing for me visually inside or out.

Some tested figures:
60 mph: 4.0 sec
1/4-Mile: 12.4 sec
Source: https://www.caranddriver.com/reviews...amg-c43-drive/
Seriously quick, indeed. Almost exactly where I thought it would land.
edit: not sure if "est" means it's not a real figure looking at it again.

Those numbers are very encouraging. Car and Driver also managed a 0-60mph of 5.3 from the base c300 4matic (MBUSA states 6 seconds).
I also expected it to be a hair slower than the current CLA45, which is consistent with the outgoing model.
Great news indeed.

RBR's review was pretty solid actually. Looks like a really fun car. The sound isn't that bad honestly and keep in mind that is a European spec car. I bet the North American cars will be louder. For a 4-cylinder, I think that's the best sound you are gonna get honestly.

It is the recent regulations and filters that is the main problem.

Is it just me or the unofficial figures from us owners on bone stock W205 C 43 we can easily achieve around the 4 second mark (I didn't test mine personally but that is what I heard, they were however brake boosting). If so, then the 4.0 second doesn't sound that much more impressive than the outgoing model.
basically like a stage 1 tuned w205 c43 performance as stock from the w206

Honestly as others said, since sound and cylinder count isn't a deal breaker for you this is an amazing car to have and one of the best in the competition. It is the priciest though, for the time being anways.

I don't know, I guess if you are really pushing it (which those owners were) then 4.0 is perfectly achievable even on a W205 C 43, especially the facelift which is why it makes the 4.0 on the W206 C 43 doesn't sound that impressive after all.

the facelift might clock faster but it actually feels slower than the PFL to me. Sense of speed can be altered by such small changes - and this w206 does look like it carries speed well and the MCT will be a huge upgrade if they can get the software right.
This car to even be marginally faster is still a win when you consider it's bigger and heavier with less displacement. Just my opinion.
