Can't see there being much tuning headroom either with that 4 cylinder. I'd bet a downpipe/tune W205 C63 walks this.
Makes cross shopping with a new M3 comp a pretty easy decision imo...

Wish they had developed an AMG version of the 3L inline 6 in the 53 models. Would have been much more exciting. Maybe that's where the next E63 is headed, same tech as here just with two extra cylinders.

As opposed to previous AMGs, the drive modes affect the performance of the car. You will not get full power in each mode as was the case in the past. The battery charging strategy is very different in Race mode vs Comfort mode. I've already experienced this with the GT 63 S E Performance. You can actually start with an empty battery in Race mode, do a lap or two around the track and the battery will be fully charged. If anything they worked hard on the charging strategy with this E Performance stuff, but even more so than before you must be using the right mode for the right kind of driving.

Sustained power quotes seem to be 420kw/750nm (563hp/553lb/ft) however that is still lower than current C63S power/weight ratio.
I'm sure a lot more info will come out/be revealed in time.

I mean it depends, when the W205 C 63s came out, people don't consider it as a true C 63s because it was "only" 4.0L and turbo charged and it doesn't have a NA 6.3 L V8 like the W204, except it didn't, as it had 6.2L. The 63 badge nowadays just means it is the top of the line model of C-Class, E-Class, etc. (excluding 65 as that will always be dedicated for the V12) for example... The 63 used to pay tribute to the 300 SEL.

I guess you can say the same with AMG, before it means something special nowadays it just simply means it is the performance focused model of MB's lineup, the amg line just simply means the car has dressed up so it looks like the performance focused model of MB's lineup without the actual power.

I guess now MB offers you a car for every need or want so I guess what matters the most is if what you get satisfies your needs and wants and that you are enjoying your vehicle. We work hard for ours after all, so why not enjoy it?
