For a sedan, most would agree it's certainly the best looking in its class, rear wheels arches would've totally completed the picture...

I think the flared rear wheel arches have tended to be for the coupe than saloon historically? So, you might have to wait for the CLE next year for them.

It was likely just a test mule for the CLE.

I'm not sure about that - I think I can see two door handles on the side suggesting a four-door car rather than two-door?

A mule is used for platform/chassis testing, the body sitting on a mule can be irrelevant. They were likely using C-Class bodies to test the early CLE chassis, which after some time has now been spied with the same rear fender flares.

For example, here’s the SL and DBX mules which used modified E-Class bodies.

Maybe. Maybe not. F1 moves to bio-fuels in 2026. Sometimes, where F1 goes, auto-makers follow. Maybe (say it quietly) bio-fuels gives us a route back to loud internal combustion engines with more than 6 cylinders!!

yeah, after I got the dealer order guide in August there’s been no update. They tell me it’s still not showing up in the system for order creation.
