Black series? Seriously? The first models haven't even been released yet. If you know anything about BS cars, you know they are produced closer to the end of life cycles. You're a few years early Cheers.

Just taking a guess as mercedes never makes additional models with wider fender packages that I know of, but a black series or special series of some kind would make sense. Just an opinion.

It's odd either way, they now have a camouflaged c63 with slightly wider fenders then regular c300 w206 and another c63 with extremely wide fenders. So its the best guess I have

These are potentially different test mules to finalize the track width or simply optical illusions due to the picture and the camouflage. Nobody has seen the final production model yet. The reveal of the new C63 is on Wednesday 9/21/22, so we'll see what it actually looks like then.

yes test mules might be it. Oddly the wide body version has only appeared recently in spy shots. Social media is ablaze with speculation. I too thought optical illusion but as I compared multiple test photos, there is no way. In the standard test c63 the rear isn't flared at all. Almost zero. Here are two recent as of 1 month testing photos. As you can see they went even further by removing camo from the standard looking c63 and adding rear fender camo to the wider body c63 test car. Very odd. Very.

It's likely the final bodywork that's now on these new test cars. The previous one was largely a C43 body. That's not unusual to test the powertrain. We'll know soon enough. A more aggressive look for the sedan would be welcome. To be honest the W205 and S205 look kinda boring.

Completely agree, I'm a coupe/convertible guy and the better for it as the sedans and wagons from AMG look plain and boring and almost no difference from the base cooking variants, those flared wheel arches make a big visual difference on a top end performance variant.
If they do finally introduce flared guards on the 63 variants of sedan and wagon/estate just like Audi and BMW always have it's a about time and they will finally look a lot more complete.

The new coupe/convertible AMG CLE mules seen testing are looking pretty good so far with what look to be even larger wheels arches than the C205 C63, really looking forward to outcome of this model.

I highly doubt the car we will see in a day or so is going to have widen rear arches.

I'd say it's more likely they are testing a different powertrain in this that will eventually go in the new e class or it's testing for a future version of the c class.

Spy photo shows standard quarter panels. Optical illusion with camera angle, camo and wheels that aren’t frogged-out Los Angeles style.

Could be "S" performance package vs std. 63.

Unless it's photoshopped, how would you explain the e charger port being set back in the extended arches.

here it is more spy shots. Not photoshopped or optical illusion. Not a testing mule for the cle coupe as we’ve already seen the cle 63. This is perhaps the R version or the 73 version. Only time will tell. Given Amg history the wider fender is only reserved for the higher performance model. Gtr is wider than gts. Black series is wider than gtr. C63s coupe is wider than the sedan as it’s supposed to be a better performer versus the c63 sedan

Most likely it was. Probably a Plan-B for an eventual failure of the 4 pot, which was doomed to happen.
