The Best of Mercedes & AMG
I really think MB should’ve taken some better measures to help lower the weight of the C63. The new W206 (C43 aside) has gained a lot of weight, primarily through its construction. Many things that were once aluminum like the doors on the W205 are now steel again like they once were on the W204. Considering how expensive the new C63 is going to be, I really think they could’ve tried a little harder to keep the weight down. They say it’s to keep costs down but the result is a heavier car. The new C43 has a lighter engine, transmission and 4Matic system compared to the previous gen, yet it weighs pretty much the exact same because all the weight reductions are nullified.
I am also confused why MB went back to steel doors instead of keeping aluminum were people complaining about the doors being too light or the closing sound wasn't as nice as W204?

There is also this mistake from factory so not impossible that it the mismatched exhaust tip was from factory.

Hmmm, so residual heating for the cabin? (activated through the Rest button?)

Yes, I believe it is the REST Button. This is the same thing I had seen on a few of the very early production "prototype" C300s I had seen a few weeks ago.
I see, I mean the Rest button is available in many countries, it allows you to press it and walk away of the vehicle allowing the residual heat/cold to maintain the cabin temperature in summer/winter. It is also something that was used in order to dry the a/c system to prevent mold growth (suggested by forum members here).

And yes, it unfortunately hasn't been available on many recent MB models in the US. Seems like a neet feature to have. TO prevent the a/c mold though, what I so is shut off the A/C but keep the fan on about 60 seconds before turning off the car. It's worked well for me.

I see, that works too.
but then again, people associate heaviness as better built/construction so it is a double edged sword.
That said, not spending money of R&D on reducing a vehicle's weight like already mentioned is cost-cutting as well. These cars are in need for a diet...
