How so, it does sound better to me, sounds even similar to the 2019 E 53 with the regular M256 not the M256 M when regulations started tighten (OPF) but regulations are still more relaxed than now (sound regulations if I recalled correctly.

Please kindly provide us a clip of the M139 (the specific car and model year you are comparing to) because of curiosity.

I'm just comparing to my W206 C43 - but admittedly, Australian delivered cars do not have the OPF so it's possible that an M139 without an OPF is going to sound a lot closer to the M246M which does have an OPF.

I think the thing is you are just comparing gas engine to gas engine. Mercedes are thinking like F1 where you have a "POWER UNIT" that combines multiple things... and when you think like that the 4 cylinder + electric motors of the CLE63 would give more performance than the 6 cylinder in the CLE53.

Prices and market launch

The six-cylinder AMG can be ordered from mid-January 2024. The Swabians are asking for at least 91,511 euros as the basic price. If you want to have the AMG Dynamic Plus package on board, you have to pay an additional 2,380 euros. The AMG optics package costs 1,785 euros extra, the carbon package I costs a further 3,511 euros. The Night packages I and II meet dark requirements at prices of 1,131 euros and 655 euros. A factory spectral blue paint finish is available for 5,117 euros. AMG performance seat packages cost 2,559 or 5,343 euros, depending on the version. Non-AMG CLE coupes start at 58,132 euros for the CLE 200.
The CLE 53 4-Matic+ combines the 449 hp three-liter six-cylinder with double charging with an exhaust gas turbocharger and an electric additional compressor as well as a 48-volt ISG system that delivers up to 23 additional hp and a maximum of 205 additional Nm. The maximum 560 Nm drive concept can also be found in the Mercedes S 500 4-Matic. With overboost you can even achieve up to 600 Nm for a short time. Gear changes are carried out by the well-known AMG Speedshift nine-speed automatic transmission. The fully variable 4Matic+ all-wheel drive ensures power transmission to all four wheels. The 53 sprints from zero to 100 km/h in 4.2 seconds, and the top speed is limited to 250 km/h. The limit is optionally increased to 270 km/h.

Saw it in person. Feels cheap, cheap interior plastic, cheap piano black plastic on the trunk between the taillights. The wheels are very cool though. Base price of 109k€? No thanks.

Awesome pictures, thanks for sharing your impressions. It is still on my shopping list when it arrives to Canada, I will need to see it in person myself to decide if I should consider something else instead. Hopefully specific options will mitigate that cheapness it but I am not holding my breath.

I’m one of the few to try all of the new AMG cars including the new GT63. AMG has my heart but not until they go back to their roots, new cars are pure trash. I can’t recommend any of the current lineup, unfortunately.

I mean, I do understand your feelings. Problem with the new MBs is the weight, V8 is not even the issue anymore as that is still present in the GT 63 but the added weight... As for the E Performance vehicles, the drivetrain complexity is another problem.
