Tobias Moers confirms no AWD W205 C63, "we prefer it to have rear-wheel-drive.”
Here's a snippet on the C63 from Top Gear, link to full story below. Including confirmation of a Black Series C63 and interesting remarks on the power potential of the M177:
"Moers wouldn’t be drawn on likely power outputs of the new Black Series C63 and a hotter version of the new AMG GT. “The power of the Black Series C63 for example depends. Yes, that engine is capable of much more, and we must always keep that little bit of a gap between the ‘standard’ AMG C63 and the Black Series,” he said.
“But it’s not a fixed gap, like 40bhp or 60bhp more, because a Black Series is about weight, driving performance and dynamics, tyres… it’s the whole package. That engine is definitely capable of more, but let’s see what the future brings.”
The future won’t bring a four-wheel-drive C63, however. “We made the decision that four-wheel-drive is E63 upwards. The C63 is a race-orientated car, it’s a car for the racetrack, fun to drive. So we prefer it to have rear-wheel-drive.”
What about a convertible C63? “That depends on the Mercedes line up. Maybe I could see one, with regards to our competitors there is a segment. Cars like that are interesting.”

He kept saying he was going to "rub sandpaper" in my "face" when the W205 C63 was announced with AWD.
He also "knew" a MB executive that drove around in an AWD W205 C63 for a year.

Haha yep. God bless his persistence in adhering to his delusions.
I wonder how much more power the C63 Black Series will have. Given that the engine will also be used in the next E63, I am curious about how much power MB can wring out of it as there is a quite a large gap between that engine's power output and the output of the M157 5.5 L V8 biturbo engine in the current E63 and CLS63.

I'd be very confident in saying that this new M177 4.0ltr TT V8 can produce the same specific power outputs as the new M133 2.0ltr IL4, they share a lot of the same componentry and internal hardware so power handling limits/hardware integrity should be similar.
But until we know more on the exact spec of the turbos used on the M177 then we'll know how much the stock OEM engine can be made to produce.
OEM trim for the M133 is 132.5kw/ltr - 225nm/ltr
OEM trim for the M177 (in S trim) is 93.75kw/ltr - 175nm/ltr
You can see the new M177 is very low by comparison in its initial release set up, I believe we'll eventually see up to at least 500+kw and around 8-900nm with future model power upgrades and if the current M133 is anything to go by we'll see well over 600kw and well over 1000nm which is already being achieved with aftermarket tuning - insane levels of power and torque.
With regards to AWD sure would be nice to have on a C63 with those numbers, certainly the AWD E63 benefits with it, big difference in acceleration performance between it and the RWD variant
