I thought I read somewhere that the w205 c63 was longer than the other w205s. Anyone know? An inch or two?

It's wider by two inches, not longer.

It's 2.13 inches longer and 1.1 inches wider:

The emotional, sensual surface design of the new C-Class, with its reduced, minimalist forms, now has an added, positive tension that gives it a truly dynamic character. The wider track and powerful eight-cylinder call for a completely standalone front end. The Mercedes-AMG C 63 has aluminium front wings, widened on each side by 14 millimetres and bearing “V8 BITURBO” lettering. The entire front end has also been lengthened by 54 millimetres. In addition, the structure of the body-in-white has been reinforced in specific areas in order to compensate for the extreme longitudinal and transverse forces generated and transmitted by the drivetrain and running gear.

Typically it is longer hood to fit the bigger engine...

No, the hood is exactly the same. The hood was not extended as the case with the W203 C55. The extra length is in the extension of the more aerodynamic AMG front bumper

Really?

Vehicle class is usually defined by wheel base since it determines seating space

When Porsche introduced the new 991 they didn't tout it's overall length was longer they emphasized that the wheel base was longer which improve space, ride and some aspects of handling

A few inches of trim overhang distance mean nothing unless you are talking about fitting it into a tight space

Your right, what I said was real knee slapper. But you were so far ahead of your self on that you managed to let op's question fly right over you. He asked about length, and not wheel base length I merely pointed out that this the case.

There plenty of car variants that have the same or similar wheel bases but have a much dramatic difference in over all length... Specifically suv's

No need to get defensive.

You are making assumptions
No one is 'defensive', you over estimate your emotional influence
But I see I have touched a nerve, sorry, just correcting you
Perhaps I was just offering up another important and pertinent dimension related to 'length' since another had given him the "length"? Which btw turned out to be wrong...
If you will note I did not quote him so again you assume I was directly responding to his query rather than helpfully providing a more relavent metric.

1.5% in overall length with the exact same wheelbase is moot

The original answer of 2.13 is incorrect, it is 2.75 as I indicated
An error of 30% !!! Now there is something for you to correct!!!
A whole 5/8"!!!
So I answered both and you answered niether
Wouldn't your time have been better spent answering the op rather than attempting to correct me? Or offering ANY thing useful?

So now you're an armchair psychologist and engineer, is there anything you cant do? I'm not trying to correct you I merely saying that overall length and wheel base are not always the same.
