From what I had read in the blurbs on the various websites when C63 was announced, it was supposed to be a few grand more expensive than the current one. But not according to this gentleman.

 

Well we got a reply on the PL. So far nothing has changed. It'll still be launched as a 2015 model in March. Pricing still hasn't been announced also. I asked how close they're to finishing it, but I doubt he's allowed to tell us that info. Although if I see anything or if pricing has been announced then I'll let everyone know on here. (Unless amanuuh beats me to it lol)

 

No way in hell would I pay 100k for an entry level car. The guy is beyond stupid and shouldn't be working at mb if he thinks they would actually price it above the e63s. Smh lol

Do they have any plans to offer Edition 1 package in the US as an option, either now or in MY16? I see that Ed1 is a package option in Canada and UK.

If they do, then maybe I can wait a little to get the build that I'm after.

 

I already asked them a question about the Ed1 in the past. This was their response.
My question was
"Just curious but why can Canadians which have ordered the Edition 1 add things such as the HUD etc, but U.S customers can't? (Not that I'm complaining since I'm Canadian though )"

Their answer was

"mainly because Canada will be only ordering a handful of these (not like USA that is taking 380 units) and they are not treating it as 'fixed livery' edition...so they can manage each car indivually

Technically we could have opted for the same open-ordering but:
- 1st - we had to start booking these vehicles into production far before we even announced the new C63 publically, so this means that some the cars would be frozen in build before we even announced it...so not all cars would be configurable
- 2nd - then you would have a myriad of Edition 1 vehicles with wildly different specifications, which makes it difficult for dealers to manage trades as you would have to fine-tooth-comb check each car to see its spec to match the customer's specific requests

We tried to pick the best balance of equipment for the Edition while managing the final MSRP..."

So based off their answer to that they won't be offering as a package. Especially since it's too late to change things now. Also the Edition 1 is only offered when the model is first released and there won't be a 2016 Edition 1 model. (I'm 99.99999% sure of this since the Edition 1 is just a launch edition model)

 

I did the build for the Edition 1 on the UK site but some of the options are not available with the E1.

I really cannot decide whether to custom order with all the options I want (and miss out on Ed1 highlights), or to get Edition 1 and live without HUD, Distronic and Air Balance.

Having said that, I think I can live without Distronic and Air Balance... especially if I enforce "no curries before getting in the car" rule

But I do want HUD. I can get that in a C300, but not C63S Ed1 .

 

You might have to go for a normal one at this stage unless you have a ED1 since I'm guessing that most ED1's are already ordered, and have been assigned to customers. So if no one took the 1 or so Edition 1 allocations your dealership has then you're quite lucky if you end up getting it lol.

 

I was in the same boat as you. Historically I always custom order my cars, however the E1 interior design and the exclusivity won over the head on display which was the only thing I would add to my build. The Air Balance and Distronic were never on my list. Don't count on the E1 to be available as package the following year - you might want to check with your local dealer if their E1 is available.

 

I know what you mean. That Ed1 interior is spectacular. But I cannot bring myself to have the car without HUD when it is available with custom order. sigh!

 

Quite possibly they've been allocated. Last I checked was about 1 month ago and it was still available at the two dealerships near me.

I think that they gave up on us on the PL cause AMG Information stepped in saying "The price of Mercedes-AMG C 63 will be communicated in the sales release soon." Guess that we'll have to be patient now and hope that the info is released soon

HUD & Air Balance were probably scratched due to price for the US Market. Ceramics were probably scratched for the same reason. Pricing on either car will probably better then we except.

 

Looks like this sales release will have to occur next week as March 1st is a week from this Sunday.

not sure if I understand the MB logic here. I thought they were suppose to start shipping in the US in March and build in January. So, if we don't know the pricing and how to option it, how do they know what to build?

 

it takes about two weeks to build a car. so they could build it the first week and have it out to dealers before the end of the month.

Everyone knows how to option it... thats what the dealer order guide is for. We just don't know the pricing. A lot of people here rather order it and get it then wait for the price to come out to order. We all know its gonna be close to our estimates.

 

Do any of you think that some of the delay could be due to the labor dock strik in Californina? I know that all the Europinian parts (engines etc.) are coming to the port in Baltimore or anywhere in the east coast, but what about other parts who are coming from Asia to the ports in California?

 

According to mbusa everything is still on schedule for March. There may not be many made which means longer waits for people who didn't order right away. On another thread this guy said if he were to order more there is a five month wait already in South Africa. Production might be a limited and you won't see them as much as you already see m4/m3.

 

From your estimates, it sounds like c63: $64k and c63s: $71k ? US pricing
