C63 507 or more expensive C63 S ?

My friend is in great dilemma. Being an 507 owner my opinion probably would be biased. So gas sucking NA monster W204 or more refined Turbo charged eco friendly W205. Assuming the new C63S would be atleast 10K more expensive what 'd you recommend ?

I highly doubt that the C63S will cost 10k more then the 507 edition unless it has the ceramic brakes. Although I'd say the C63S would be a better buy. It'll more likely have better trade in value in the future, plus in the long run It's better fuel economy will probably save the owner some cash.

I am a big fan of the 507 edition and really like the NA engine but I would go with the new model because of several reasons. For one, I don't think the new C63s will be 10 grand more. Probably closer to 5 I'm thinking. The new model as you mentioned will get better gas mileage but most of us don't really worry about it. The new c63s has the electronic diff which will make it a better track car if that is what you are looking to do (like me ). The new engine mounts in combination with the new adjustable suspension will make it a better daily driver. The new model is also a lil bit bigger which helps with the kid(s) in the back and is just a better car for all round purposes in my opinion.

The entire car is redesigned...wider, longer, lighter and much better interior than the older C.

Are you buying new ? if so only the coupe variant 507 is still available for new orders unless there are left over stocks of sedans or wagons where your located.

Also pricing will depend on where your located, here in Australia for example pricing of the new W205 C63 has been released and it's less than the outgoing 507's price.

In terms of personal recommendation and although most people haven't yet sampled the new C63 in person, along with reasons stated by others above I'd also choose the new model as there's certainly enough information and tests conducted so far that put it way ahead of the W204 in just about every respect, you also get a lot more kit or equipment with the new C63 vs the old C63 for less money.

Certainly here in Australia that is the case where people are choosing the new C63 over the remaining 507's and the W205 C63 is already sold out here for the whole first years W205 C63 supply/allocation to Australia from Germany and deliveries don't even begin until later this year.

There's also the coupe consideration (what I'm driving), which is still at least a year off IMO. As stated, w205 is much better and unless you like the German tank front-end or the sound of the larger NA engine, there's just too much that's new not to consider it

C63S Price

Price in UK has been released and it is starting from £66,545 which is way more than the outgoing 507 :

http://www.autocar.co.uk/car-review/mercedes-amg/c63

In Canada 507 costs us 78K ( it already comes fully loaded ). I was just told by the local dealership that the new C63S will be at the 90K ball bark easily...with ceramic brake and exhaust option 95K +

Do agree though probably you will make up for the difference easily through the fuel expense you save in the new one.

The exhaust is standard on the C63S here in Canada. Also ya a fully loaded C63S with ceramic brakes will probably be about the 95k range. Without ceramics it'll probably be 86-88k. Also you can add options to the 507 edition to make it come out at about 83k

That is unfortunate that in the U.K the price has hiked up that much new vs old C63.

I suppose you now do have to really think about it.

However I would still compare equipment levels of the 2, the new C63S has a lot more kit compared to even a fully loaded 204 series 507 so that price difference above is probably still worth going for.

All the best with it one way or another your still going to end up with one hell of a car, if it's a long term ownership proposition and your going to own it outright the 507 isn't a bad choice as it's most probably destined to become a sort after collectable in the long term future
