If I wanted efficient, I WOULDN'T BUY A SPORTS CAR!

Why don't car manufacturers get this? I hate forced induction and I don't care if it's 23 liters and gets 3.2 mpg, just make it fast and make it loud.

These wiz bang 4 and 6 cylinders are crap. I despise that bathtub called the CLA. Sounds like junk going by.

Don't destroy the reputation of the division AMG!

Tell that to the regulators.

FF. W212 E63 M156 non-pano 18" P2 ParkT NightV (gone but will be missed).
I'm really not a fan of FI either. IMO they should just add electric motors and keep the engines NA like they did with LaFerrari and 918. We all know how awesome those two cars sound.

The C63 (and M3/M4 for that matter) aren't sports cars. They're heavy luxury performance cars that have all the comfort features of the standard cars they're based off of. While they can do some light track duty, they're much more suited to being practical daily drivers that can bring some excitement.

I understand where you're coming from, but the niche you're looking for is really just being filled by the GT3 and GT4 now.

And as far as AMG's reputation goes, their 1.6 liter turbo F1 engine is already a legend in the making. It's easily the most dominant powerplant on the grid for the second year in a row.

Its not manufacturers its cafe and euro 5, they are imposing strict co2 and efficiency regulations. Thats why aston martin is teaming up with mb, they them selves cannot afford to develop an efficient engine. So they use tried and proven designs.

On paper the M168 is much more efficient than the M156, whether that pans out in the real world is another questions.. These laws are forcing automakers to rethink their approach to powertrains.

Cars like the McLaren P1 and LaFerrari have ev mode so the ultra wealthy can drive their cars in cities like Paris and London city centers.

Plus, the CLA45's 2.0L turbo 4 is the most powerful 4-cylinder production engine in the world (360 hp . . . from a 2.0L 4-banger). Sure, it doesn't sound as good as a W204 C63 but I haven't found many 4-cylinder cars that sound better than the A45/CLA45/GLA45.

Both the AMG GT/S and the W205 C63/C63 S have two of these CLA45 motors spliced together (essentially). There are rumors that the M177 (new W205 motor) can produce over 700 horsepower.

I love displacement but I also love high-quality engineering.

The New E63 will use the M177 engine. However, the turbos used maybe from the CLA 45....

Nothing wrong with the CLA45, it's a good marketing move by MB (I'm betting it influenced somewhat the decision to make a Cayman GT4) to make AMG power more affordable. The engine is awesome, and very fun to drive on the track.
