Wow! What is the basis for those ****ty scores?? Doesn't explain the reasoning unless I missed something.

If you click on the score, you get a little bit of a breakdown of how they score individual categories, though there aren't specific justifications.Originally Posted by jeremyf0923

Bunch of broke *** journalists. These guys always think a Honda Civic is the best car for the money and a BMW 328 is their semi attainable fantasy car.
I buy a new car every year: Needs tires: new car, needs inspection sticker: new car, needs 12k mile service: new car.
The c63s has enough performance chops that if some of the fit, finish and build quality isn't perfect, I'll be okay with it. It wouldn't have been perfect in a Maserati either.

Well, I don't want to start a discussion on statistical analysis but what's the sample size? Is this based on data from 1, 2, 5, 55, 1000, or 10,000 respondents? I know we all are guilty of taking the $1 they offer to complete the survey and then we never send it back. Is this rating because only the disgruntle returned the survey with negative feedback? I'm not denying the C Class has had issues but an overall "2-Star" rating seems pretty low for a well-touted mid-class luxury sedan. JD Power is a well respected company so my hope is they've considered all the possible "errors" that could affect these results. Just sayin'

In all fairness, The fit of my front bumper against the other body panels is freaking horrible and almost gave me buyers remorse when I noticed it a week later. I thought about having my dealer or body shop refit them, but then decided not to mess with it. The new C class is a new model. It is the first sedan being built in Alabama. There have been issues with bumper fitment, wind noise and mb tex seats bleeding white residue. I imagine these factors really impacted the score. I also imagine that build quality is improving every week, month. If I had bought a c300 as my first Benz or only car, the issues that some dealt with would have upset me too.

Take some time and read the W205 forum. Some of the issues cited are early build issues (one of the reasons I never buy the first year car production early in its run), but other problems appear to be more basic in the areas of wind noise, trim falling off, transmission shifting, missing parts, recalls, etc. I would expect that most of these items have been sorted out by now and certainly before MY16 starts production. I've got my fingers crossed that my build later this year will not have the issues already reported multiple times. Mercedes Benz cannot afford to have a premier car get low marks on a quality survey.

Not to argue or sound like a broken record, but the 2015 C63 AMG Coupe has the exact same ratings, and it's heading into the end of its life cycle.

**BIG SIGH**
I've tried to stay away from the forum for this very reason. Stats and surveys aside, my car arrives in 7 to 10 days and I really hope its a HIGH quality product that demands the price I'm paying for it. I don't usually put a lot of faith in surveys because I believe in the squeaky wheel theory. I just care about my car and hope I don't need to return to the dealer until scheduled maintenance is required.
I know first year cars experience issues but I also have a 2015 M4 that has not given me any issues. No panel issues, wind noise, or trim problems. Had to go in one time for CEL because of the piggyback tune I have -- not the car's fault. I also don't buy that these quality issues are a result of "Alabama" production. At least that is what my heart says. My brain is saying otherwise.

There may be a bias towards respondents who feel slighted by a car company and have an axe to grind by reporting bad reviews

Though I'm not impressed with some of the exterior seams, it's minor. The perceived quality from behind the wheel is very high. The car makes no noise other than tire noise. It reminds me of the modern Porsche feeling. The performance is just ridiculously good. The car feels extremely light and agile for a car of its size and weight .
