Exterior Carbon Package
I have just noticed Mercedes have released a new July specification sheet for Australian cars. I have not reviewed it in detail yet but did notice one new addition - an exterior carbon package. Had that been available when I placed my order in May, I might have chosen it instead of the Edition 1. Is this package available in other markets? What do members think of it?

In Australia, it is carbon fibre on the front apron, door sill panels, rear apron, radiator grill, mirrors, and rear spoiler. Not sure of the price though.
I imagine it would look great all together as a package on the car, particularly on a colour such as polar white.

Yes, I see they have just added the Exterior Carbon Package. I'm probably going to change my order to include the package, assuming the pricing is not ridiculous as the pics of the car with the carbon options look fantastic and I probably wouldn't want one without it.

Too bad they don't offer the rear diffuser in c/f.

I'm with you. If the front splitter and rear diffuser were part of the carbon fiber package in the U.S. I would be all over it! But I just went with the carbon spoiler since the nsp package already gives me black mirrors.

Package 1
Short description
With sporty details of carbon gives this package the vehicle from every angle significantly more dynamic. The A-Wing in the front apron, side skirts and inserts in the above the rear diffuser are made of carbon.
Package 2 (same as the one in the US)
Short description
With exterior mirror housings and AMG spoiler lip in carbon sets this package effective contrasts and makes the car even more dynamic appearance. The AMG spoiler lip reduces lift at high speeds on the rear axle.

This looks the same as Package 1 and 2 in Germany

I would still love to have the option for the full carbon fiber package in the U.S. They will probably offer it in future years. Oh well.

Yes, it's more like $9.4k to be accurate. But the way I'm looking at it is that Edition 1 in Australia costs $7900 and all you get is a bunch of trim pieces and decals. To me it's just a plain old rip off. At least with the carbon package you actually get something tangible for your money, even though the value proposition is still not that high. I'd rather put my money into the carbon package than the Edition 1.

I can not find any mention of it on the Australian "Configurator" web page.
However, I came across it through the updated Australian Specification guide that is also available on the web. In this, it details what is in the package and some of the individual code numbers but not one for the package overall.

German website. C/F spoiler is not available by itself but it is still MY2015. Maybe it will change for MY2016
