285 tires in rear

I heard a few post about people wanting or going to put 285 tires in the rear, has anyone actually done this?

Just curious if it actually fits or not, I would prefer more wider tires with this kind of power even in stock form, I can't imagine how people who plan to tune it are going to deal with 265 tires.

Speaking of which does anyone know if 275's will fit on the stock OEM RIM?

I havent picked up my car yet, so haven't had a chance to see for myself.

I would like to know this as well... This is the problem I have with my W204 C63. I cant fit anything bigger in the back than a 275. Even then it rubs pretty good on my KW V3 coil overs. If the W205 can fit 285, that would be a dream.....

This is from a post by C63-Dxb telling about his run in Dubai so it looks like he has 285's on his c63 --don't know about rims?

some facts:

- Full weight ED1 (pano)
- 3/4 tank
- Tune is not final, there's some headroom left.
- 176lb driver
- 285/35r19 MPSS@23psi

Car has the following:

- Tune
- Custom BMC drop-in filter

I wonder if those 285 are stretched or not!

maybe we can get some more info on this, quite frankly 285 if possible will be the widest this car can go, i actually think it needs 295

most* tire manufactures recommend a minimum of 9.5" wide rim for 285mm tire.

I originally had a order in for a set of 285/35 for factory rims, but i canceled it. I am 98% sure** that a 285/35 or 285/30 will fit no problem.

**not 100% sure they will fit.

I think all the OEM rear wheels are 9.5" 275 will most certainly fit.

I didnt want to, but i have no choice but to sell my OEM wheels and move to aftermarket. I want, at a minimum a 295/30/19.

in a perfect world i would run a wide set of michelin pss for daily driving, and a set of drag radials for weekend muscle car hunting.

I ran 285's on my C63 (w204) and never ever had any rubbing issues. I ran Nittos 555s and I used to make trips with the family and even the 84" long XL Mercedes carrier box on the roof.

I just put michelin PSS's on my car to replace the dunlops...

went 255 up front and 275 rear.

plenty of room for 285 in my opinion, even on the stock rim.

cheers boys

side profiles, one off of the fender and another in the wheel well to make sure there isn't any rubbing

or if there is, just how much

Plus 1 on the pics. Also, do see any differences with the PSS vs. the Dunlops.

here you are boys...hopefully this helps ;-)

car was just aligned, tuck is perfect in rear, tires are not squashed on rim even with the fact that PSS's typically run wider than most brands.

So these are PSS 255/35/19 and 275/35/19 on stock rims? Is that correct?

Are you sure JP as in post #11 he says 275 unless he changed.
I just wanted to have him confirm specs.
