C63 AMG ticking sound
Hi everyone,
I am new to this forum, been following and enjoying it for some time and this is my first post;
I took delivery of my new C63 yesterday and couldn't help but notice a faint ticking noise at idle which I believe is coming from the engine. The noise is only noticeable at idle in a quiet environment (radio off and aircon fan down) and disappears when increasing the rpms.
Has any of you heard this noise with your C63? Is it a normal noise for direct injection engines?
I also notice that when the gearbox goes from 4th to 3rd gear at low speed, the gear change is somehow brutal (as if someone engaged the clutch rapidly in a manual car).
Thanks in advance for your feedback

I haven't heard it on this car but others I have do it and its the injectors tick.
When you get the hard down shift? are you in comfort and coasting?
The clutch can disengage and reengage roughly.

As for the downshift, yes, this happens when in comfort and coasting. The car is booked for a gearbox software update next week.

Well, took the car to the dealership today and they said that the ticking noise is completely normal for this car (something to do with the engine getting rid of gases from the fuel tank).

I had this issue. Took it to the dealership. They insulated the fuel pump lines coming from the high pressure pimp and the purge valves, said they were resonating against the body of the car. No more ticking.

for the ticking I don't really know about that. BUT for the brutal downshift, I am really disappointed with my gear shifting from 5th to 4th gear and from 4th to 3rd gear. Its really brutal and feels as if there is something wrong with the gear!
Any input guys? Is this normal? FYI the car made 350 kilometers only.

So this brutal downshift, which makes it seem like the gear is faulty, would ease out with time? It really worries me the shift from 5th to 4th, throws me front!

they are clueless. purge valve on modern benz cars dont "tick" anymore. they are designed differently and the make a slight humm/hiss noise and you cant hear it unless your ear is next to it. the ticking noises you hear is the injectors along with the high pressure fuel pump. after they do the software update make sure they actually adapt the gear shift that you are having the issue with.

When my 2003 SL55AMG sits for awhile the right rear corner drops. Only the one corner. As soon as I start the car it levels off nicely.
Would this be a problem with half of the rear valve block? Does the one block control both rear corners?
my MB dealer says to not worry about it dropping while sitting as long as it works while driving.
i just hate to open the garage door and see the car sitting lopsided.
Thoughts?

I’ve got the 2015 with the original software in engine and transmission no issue at all, I don’t hear any ticking besides the injectors which isn’t loud at all. I’m probably going to ODB port tune so I could careless about the update. Oh and installed the porterfield R4-S pads today brake dust and squeeling is gone!
Ticking is injectors, drive the **** out of the car have some fun with it!

I got this car recently and ran for about few thousand kilometers. I didn't get the repair history and I think i made the mistake of not flushing tranny oil. It was shifting fine and smoothly and even drove without skipping a beat. However, yesterday when i was cruising at about 50 and when rpm goes up I heard a tiny grinding noise which was going up with the engine rev. after few hours it refused to shift from 1st gear. Then after about few minutes it refused to move. I switched off the engine and started, then it was fine for a moment. Again same symptoms came up. Now the car is in workshop, they're also trying to troubleshoot as to what has happened.
Would love if you guys can shed some light on this as i'm completely clueless on what happened which i didn't see coming.
