Improved High Flow Air Filters for C63S ? anyone...
Been looking @ both AFE and K&N - does anyone have part numbers for better designed intake airfilters? If you open your airboxes you'll notice that the leading edge facing the air intake has the stock filter which sticks up and impedes airflow...
Part numbers and where to get (if they are out) would be helpful.
Thanks everyone....

I think this would be a great item for a group buy.
Anyone that has any connections with Weistec should ask about a volume buy.
At $199 a pair they should have room for a nice discount.
They are also thinner so don't block the air flow. Good pics on their site.
at $150 a pair I bet they would get a lot of orders.

Not as bad as what I paid for the plugs in the rear diff when I had the oil changed at 1850 mi.
They replace both at $25.99 each for what probably cost a $1 a plug to make if that.
The filters are high but don't block the airflow for what that's worth.

I could settle for $100 maybe $150...for filters but that's me saying uncle to $200...
Guess I should wait for the AFE/K&N more affordable alternatives.

I was in contact with the BMC dealer. They are trying to get more distribution of their products, specifically for cars...
If you check out their website, they have a dealer search. Pretty limited right now, but they are expanding. Interesting fact, BMC also supports 9 out of the 11 F1 teams. They are out of Italy. Renntech sells their filters but they only have it for the AMG GT-S at the moment.
I asked their North American sales rep for a group by, but he told me they could not accommodate it at this time...????

This shows the OEM and Weistec filters and how the stock one partially blocks the incoming air. Are they worth $100 each? Of course not but how much is a OEM filter? I can't find them or anyone else making an aftermarket one.
JP can you look it up for us?

K&N has a request form. Maybe with enough interest asking them to produce one for our cars will get them to the market faster.
I submitted a request here.

They won't be $200 for a pair of engine air filters. LOL it's only $90 a pair for my M5. Weistec is just trying to set the edge, but I ain't biting.

I asked a dealer for OEM filter price and he said $44 ea.

Although the prices are steep maybe a group buy would bring it down a bit. Especially since there's a lack of options available from other vendors.

Air Filters
Hi guys
I got a set of BMC air filters in South Africa for my C63S at 140.00 USD.
Ive kept my originals and am getting the ECU done this week. Will be doing a few dyno runs for this so ill post the increase in power (if any?) between the standard and BMC units.
Depending on time ill try and do the same after the ECU tune to see if it benefits at all from aftermarket filters over a standard tune

I think the key thing is thickness and their web site does not show a pic of the comparison to OEM filters.
the Weistec is thinner and does not block the incoming air but costs $200 per pair. Can you tell us how thick the BMC is compared to OEM and if it blocks the air?

Saw the BMC on fleabay for less than a hundred bucks including shipping from Italy. I have BMC air filters on all my motorcycles and they work great! Gonna get a set of these for the car, the price is right.
