OG POST:

So I've decided to join the ranks (and hopefully do justice to everyone who has an AMG). I've saved up enough money and I'm at a point in my life that I think having an AMG is worthwhile - and I've been in love with them for almost a decade now.

I'm currently in the process of making an arrangement/custom order for a C63 AMG S through my dealer who gave me a sick deal on one, but I'm having some trouble deciding between the two seats.

I've had a chance to sit and test drive in both, (I'm currently driving a C400) but unfortunately I don't think the long term effects/feel of the AMG Performance Seats show during a test drive.

I enjoyed the bolsters and they felt really good to sit in. I'm just not sure if they might be too hard, or if they're anything like sitting in an FRS or something to that nature, it gets uncomfortable on long rides.

That being said, what are your thoughts on the seats? Are they worth the $2500 upgrade?

Cheers everyone. I can't wait!

Go for the performance seats ull never regret it. This beauty without these seats is like a glass of a great French red wine but with ice.

I use my car as a daily and the sports seats are quite comfortable.

I have the performance seats and love how they look and feel. I am average size 5'9" and 170 lbs. I could see these seats not being very comfortable if u were a really big guy.

Yeah i am about the same size and find the performance extremely comfortable. My wife actually said they are much better then the s4 even though they are a bit stiffer.

My vote for the performance but I may be a bit bias

That's really good to know. Does yours come with heated seats?

Yes they are heated, have lumbar with a good amount of adjustment. also you can "pinch" the bolsters with buttons on the side. the driver has two for the seat and back. the passenger has only one but i am not sure if it does the top or bottom since i have yet to sit there lol

I had the sport seats in my 45, and the performance seats were the one option I wish I had. I didn't make that mistake when I got my 63. While the sport seats were good and comfy, the performance seats are highly adjustable and I haven't had any comfort problems.

One unspoken advantage is, the performance seat-backs are thinner, thus a bit more rear room for your passengers.

Not only how it feels when sitting but the overall shape and design from these seats are truly awesome. Gives a more "agressive" and "racing" feel of the cabine.

No Premium Package?

Also the ParkTronic and Surround view are included in the Parking Assist Package, just want to make sure you're not getting double charged .

I just opted for the regular sport seats as I have read the performance seats can be quite uncomfortable if sitting in them for longer periods of time. I also believe the performance seats do not have the Affalterbach crest in the headrests like the standard sport seats, which I think is a nice touch. Plus I'm not a slim guy and the car will be my new daily, so comfort takes precedence for my larger frame.:P

How is the lateral support in the sport seats? Are the side bolster adjustable at all on the sport seats?

I have the performance seats and they have tons of adjustment and for track work or short time in them they are very good. I am 5'11" 180 and if I drive more than about 3 hrs. they start to get uncomfortable to me. I love the look and short term fit but I would not buy them again as Most of my driving is not track or canyons and the std. seats are also nice.

I ended up going with the normal sports seats. I had added almost every other option, and the $2,500 for the performance seats was going to put me over my limit. Also, I wanted ventilated seats, which you cannot get on performance seats. I also hate the button blank on the door if you don't have ventilated seats. Hopefully I won't regret my decision.

Unless something changed on future production models, the normal sport seats do NOT have ventilated seats. I just took delivery of mine a bit over a week ago, April 2016 production that I ordered 12/26/15. There is not an option for ventilated seats (I wish it were) and you still have that stupid button blank on the doors. So the question is are ventilated seats available now?

Yes, they are with MY2017. It's in the dealer order guide.
