Interested in hearing some real world opinions ?
I'm trying to decide with sticking with an amg (but the new 205 flavor) or handing in my enthusiast credentials and getting a tesla with autopilot.
It's mostly due a horrible commute where I am thinking autopilot would make life a lot easier.
However if distonic plus is close enough to autopilot Maybee its a good half way measure.
Interested in anyone who actually has it and uses it on a commute or stop n go traffic.
Thanks !

The adaptive cruise part works quite well.
It will keep an interval and start and stop if the stop is not more than about 1 sec. If more you can just tap the accelerator and it goes back to interval keeping.

You will still need to keep an eye on things. It's not like you can sit back and focus on something else or take a nap.

I've had radar cruise control in 3 cars so far, and I have to say that it really is a wonderful feature that makes boring commutes much less tiring.
Yes, you still have to pay attention, but it reduces the mental fatigue immensely. Try to find a demo C300 and test it out; you'll understand the difference.

It is helpful to a degree. You need to first learn the weaknesses of the system and compensate accordingly. for example, it detects a car merging in your lane right in front of you poorly and too late. I like and use it all the time in traffic.
It helps with stop start as it start engine when the car in front begins moving not when you tap the gas.

I use it a lot too. Mine and my wife's cars have it and it works great. At slower speeds you do not have to touch the wheel. But if a car merges off the road onto, for example a highway on ramp, it will follow it. And you DO have to press the gas to get the car started again after a stop longer than 1 second.
I'm not familar with the autopilot that Tesla has so I cannot compare. But MB's does work great in stop and go traffic as long as you pay atention.
