Burmeister sound system in C Coupe. Terribly crappy?!
I wouldn't go so far as to say it's as bad as you have described above but I will definitely endorse the fact that it is not one bit as good as expected from all the hype that was made of it when it was released in the new 205 series, although having said that I haven't had a chance to listen to it in one of the new C205 coupes only several sedans, may very well be the case that the different acoustics of the interior of the coupe make it sound even worse...
The questionable sound quality of the new Burmeister has come up in many other threads as well.
One thing the Burmeister isn't devoid of though us engineering. The mid range is excellent - and I run my Bass on +10 with the others on -2 or -3.
Also I have noticed that the EQ settings for radio are absolute garbage. I get 50% less bass from the radio. The best way to get a good sound is from the iPhone connected via cable (and with Spotify or streaming the SAME radio station). Streaming via BT loses bass as well so don't do it lol.
It's a joke that I have to do this as all it needs is clearly just some more EQ settings and it could be a really good sound system for all music types! There used to be access to these settings in the W204 via a secret engineering menu, but no one has figured that out yet for the W205

Jazz etc - sounds unreal as it highlights the only strengths of the system. It's reproduction of sound and mid range.

I agree with points made above that the old HK system was better.
However, I prefer listening to the V8 exhaust note a lot more

Can totally relate to your point about wanting to listen to the V8 engines note than the stereo I have 2 V8 powered vehicles and do the same as you when I'm driving alone, ie. audio off or very low and just enjoy the sweet V8 notes
passengers and wife prefer the sound system lol

Not sure if it's the way to go about it or if it's the correct thing to do or if it can be added or fitted to a 205 but adding some sort of bass enhancement (amp, bass woofer speaker/s) might solve the problem.
Not really keen on adding a box to the back seat.
What other options do we have to add a couple of subs but keeping it stealth?

I hope MB do something about it and regardless of brand provide at least a proper or decent sounding system back in the C class, the addition of OEM sub/s would probably make all the difference.
