C63 S AMG Edition 1 Coupe, Silver or Blue

Hi all,

New here!

After much pondering about RS6s and M4 Comp packs I decided to order a C63 AMG S Edition 1 last week. However, I have not as yet decided on whether to go with Iridium Silver or Brilliant Blue (current choice is Silver). On top of that... if I go blue do I stick with Carbon pack 1 and 2 which I currently have optioned?

Before anyone just happens to mention grey... No.. had a grey car (Audi RS6) awhile back. Nice but now bored with grey Ditto black, ditto white.

So opinions please

I haven't been able to find an Iridium Silver Ed 1 car but have found Blue:

This is from the configurator... but obviously not real. Looks good tho.!

,
I think the silver combination looks really cool. The stickers really complement the monochrome look. I prefer the blue without the edition 1 decals.

I'm trying to find out if the decals on the silver car are actually black (or very dark grey). If they are just a grey colour it will lose the contrast it has in the simulated look imo..

Congratulations!

I love the brilliant blue, I think it will have more presence than the silver.

If they're the same as on this white version than looks like they're dark grey

I've switched to Blue with Carbon 1 & 2. Part of the reason is that I can't get a full definitive answer on the stripe colour and feel that it may blend in too much on the silver car making it less "contrasty". My dealer is telling me that Mercedes technical UK are telling him that there is only one colour of stripe. Of course this isn't true because there is yellow as well but he thinks they ignore that one because it only applies to the "Motorsport Edition". I have another couple of weeks before the spec is locked.

Silver one looks tougher

The stripe on the blue doesn't look right

I agree. The blue and silver are too much of a contrast and I guess that's why I dislike the yellow stripe/magno combo on the Ed 1 too. Just looks a bit cheap IMO. To each their own though.

I quite like the blue with the silver stripe although my dealer is telling me that the stripe (in the UK at least) is actually a dark grey colour and doesn't vary (excluding the Motorsport version) between car colours. Still hoping to get a definitive answer before my spec is locked. Thanks for the input from everyone.

I've just got off the phone with Mercedes UK. They have stated that in the UK at least there are only two colours of stripes - black Edition 1 and yellow on the motorsport edition car.

The stripes on standard edition 1 coupes are 'graphite', in other words dark grey . Yellow stripes are for the edition 1 'motorsport' only.

Spec changed back to Silver. My dealer is so pleased I've given him some extra work to do

My expected delivery date is 2nd August 2016, no HUD though.

I'm always mindful of the ramifications of modding cars. Spacers, even narrow ones change the driving dynamics (for better or worse) plus extra stress although do add aesthetically. A little lowering looks good but I caught the bottom of a lowered car on a speed bump a few years ago which had a dramatic affect on my wallet!

Did you remove the HUD from the order?

The HUD is "provisioned". According to the dealer this simply means that if one becomes available it will be put on, if it isn't available the car will be built anyway.

I would prefer to have the HUD, I've had them on a few cars (M6, M5, RS6) but it isn't quite an essential item for me, prefer the aesthetics of the dash without and there are just those odd times where you can't quite see it properly, switch back to the dials and can't figure out where anything is anymore

This is my first car with HUD and now that I am used to it I would NEVER buy a car without it again.
You don't have to drop your view and have your eyes refocus in darker area that takes a bit. Gear/MPH/RPM right if front of you --I love it.
I would wait rather than settle for less.

If it was a month extra I'd wait but I'm being told by the dealer it may be December before you are likely to be able to order a car with one. (I think a dealer on here said the same). On top of that I may not get an Edition 1 which is what I'm after. My 911 doesn't have a HUD nor can you even order a 911 with one. It doesn't bother me really, it would probably bother me more if my current DD had one.

Are the edition 1's a limited production?

I guess you could use the same argument about any car... limited by time and production... but, of course, less so.

EDIT:

Also worth mentioning I had problems ordering an Ed 1 for delivery before October in the UK. Tried several dealers (10+) and most were unable to supply one (but about 50% could offer a non Ed 1 version).
