It's not really fair to compare the weight to the M4 -- it gets a carbon fiber roof (this saves 49 lbs alone), deck-lid, and lots of other weight reduction. While we're stuck with a super heavy, standard panorama sunroof (probably weighs upwards up 80-100lbs alone). It's also a larger car proportionally than the M4 - it's longer and wider with a longer wheelbase.
It was mentioned several times by AMG that the Coupe would weigh more than the Sedan because of the beefier rear suspension, larger wheels/tires, more stiffening/bracing, etc -- didn't expect it to come in at over 2 tons, but I guess we'll have to wait and see for some real world weigh-ins to get accurate specs.
It's also worth noting that Mercedes definition of curb weight is in accordance to Directive 92/21 / EC, meaning it is includes the filled curb weight, fuel tank 90 percent full, driver, 68 kg, and luggage, 7 kg).

If the MB USA curb weight uses the same directive, subtracting the 68kg driver and 7kg luggage (165lbs), it would bring the curb weight down from 4,096 lbs to a somewhat less shocking 3930 lbs. Let's hope that's the case. We'll find out once magazines have done their own instrumented testing on the Coupe.

I was expecting the Coupe to weigh in at around 3950-4k, I didn't think it would be upwards of 4100 lbs

Yes, the car is significantly heavier than its competitors. What it lacks in weight loss it gains in the power of the car.
Surely, the M4 being that much more lighter still cannot hit 0-100 in 3.8 secs. (I rest my case)
The car inside and out is a much superior car in every way. It is far better than a M4 or the RCF. It is more refined in nature and thus making it that much heavier.
I currently own the sedan and switching the the coupe... let me assure you that you cannot feel the extra lbs at all.
