Need Input:Road vibration/Shake
Just got my 2015 C63S Edition 1 back from the dealer. Had some bad vibration and wheel shake (thought it was bent wheel) turns out was a popped motor mount.
Dealer fixed and I've Been driving it around for about a week and the shake and wheel vibration from the blown mount is definitely gone BUT I feel like at around 80mph (my commuting speed in comfort mode) the ride is not as smooth as it was or should be. Seems like there is some vibration/shake still, it's definitely not the same as before but just wondering if any one else has the same feel at 80 and if it's all in my head because of the the motor mount shake and its normal road feedback.
Any input is appreciated, debating on taking it back have it looked over again but wanted to see what everyone else is experiencing.

Do you feel it in the steering wheel as a speed specific vibration might be a wheel balance problem.
Does it also happen above 80km/h? If it doesn't and feels like it smooths out then it's just a wheel balance.
Also, I wouldn't trust the dealer to tell you if the wheel is bent or not. It can be slightly bent on the inside of a wheel and impact the vibration. I had something similar with my ED1 wheel.

They did replace a motor mount and stated that the wheel were a bit out of balance so the balance them in addition to replacing the motor mount.
I think I'm going to take it to a tire shop, have them take a look at the wheels, check balance and what not.
Next time any of you are out and about, could you make a mental note if at 65-80 mph cruising if you notice any vibrations or if it seem just as smooth as 35-40mph.
I debated taking a new on on a test drive just to see if its the same

Normally a wheel balance problem will be smooth for a while and than vibrate and then smooth out again as you go faster. A good tire shop is the place to go.

Check your wheel bolts!!!!
I had a similar problem and 3 of my rear left wheel bolts were loose. like two three turns loose.
All the other ones were loose too but not as bad as my rear left wheel.

Ok took it back to the dealership. The SA and Mechaninc are saying its probly just the way the car drives.
The Mechaninc explains the "dynamic motor mounts" and that they are just stiffening up at high speeds.
I explained that I know how the mounts work and that obviously the AMG is a performance not a comfort model and is made to ride more stuff than the other C class. They are going to double check the balance and everything but are "pretty sure" it's just the car characteristics.
So, if anyone could just take a few minutes next time you're out and cruise at 75-80mph on a nice smooooooth road (in comfort mode no music) and see if you feel any shake or vibration at that speed. The vibration I feel is pretty obvious and definitely not feed back from the road (it gets worse the smoother and new the pavement is).
I would greatly appreciate it. If they say it's good and you say you feel it too then I'll forget about it and go back to daily driving life.

It does not sound normal at all. (not like mine) If you are driving down a smooth road and continue to go faster does it start smooth and then start to vibrate and as you go faster the vibration goes away???
This would indicate a wheel balance problem.
Feel the tire and see if you find any intermittent cupping as you feel around the tire tread. Yours might not do that yet as it does take a while to cup but still might be a balance issue..

It's a smooth ride right up until about 65, then at 80 it's really obvious. Even my phone sitting in the cup holder makes noise from vibrating against the holder. At higher speeds I can really tell it I smooths out but it doesn't seem to.
It supposed to be done today so we will see. And I'll check the tires myself too if it's still there.
Thanks for the input, Asking a fellow AMG is a little easier than driving to anothe dealer and test driving a 2016 and going through the "lets talk numbers". I'll let you know how it plays out.
Dealership Found A bent wheel.... They Must have missed that when they "inspected" the wheels the first time, you know, when I brought it in for vibration and said, "I hit a pretty big pothole last week, feels like I might have bent a wheel"
Thanks for the input!

Send wheel out for repairs. I have the wheel/tires package so it covers repairs to wheels and tires if danger by road hazards i.e. Pothole/debris.
Estimated to get it back in 6 days....
Makes me little weary knowing that the miss it the first time, especially when I told them that's what I thought it was and they said it wasn't.

I am unaware of this wheel / tire insurance? What does it cover, cost, and how long? Deductible? With how expensive these wheels are if it's offered when I get my delivery I may opt for it.
the cynic in me wonders if the dealer knew it was a bent rim (doesn't take a mercedes tech to figure out it was a wheel / tire problem based on your description), but didn't want to eat the loss with your insurance package.

I'll let you know what they charged me.

The wheel/tire plus with paint less dent repair was $4695 (according to the purchase print out)
Not sure what the price of new rubber and wheels are, it might be worth it might not. Mine was transferred from previous owner so I never did the math to see if it was worth it.

The person I bought the car from said the deductible is $50. They had to have a tire replaced from a flat and thats what they paid for the claim.

No deductible and it was a bent rim.... which I suspect it was the original culprit and the dealership found the blown motor mount figured lets just fix that and see if they bring it back.
The fixed it and covered everything. But they always lead with "we will have to submit it to the warranty claims and if it does not qualify you will have to pay xxx amount"

I have the same 75-80 mph steering wheel shake on my C63S Ed1. I took the shop foreman for a ride, got him to feel the steering wheel, and I picked up the car today where he supposedly took the car for another drive and "npf" = no problem found. The explanation is "the suspension is very firm (AMG) and summer tires very hard (Michelin Pilot Super Sports = really???) and vehicle is operating as designed." I beg to differ. I clued them in on the engine mounts but I doubt they even looked at it. With me not driving the car as much (no flat spots on the tires since i have lift when storing the car), there were no potholes hit whatsoever. And I'm the only one driving this car.
I guess my next option is to take another AMG out to feel the difference.

I work for a Mercedes dealer and I am having the same issue. Right around 80mph the car vibrates really bad. However, my techs aren't able to figure it out. I have wiestec coilovers and aftermarket wheels/tires so they think it has something to do with that, but I know it doesn't. I'll keep you updated on what happens with mine. Glad to hear it was just a wheel. It will be covered with just a deductible.

It is a most likely a bent rim. I had the same issue, sent through everything and it was a rear rim. And I don't even recall hitting a pothole of any sort!!
with the ED1 rims it is easy to tell... Talk a look from far away, the red pinning will look off Eve so slightly. If it is an outside bend.
Get it repaired. New ED1 wheels are 2200CAD and I waited 2 months and never got one. If you are looking for a place and are OK with shipping Greens Wheel repair in Surrey BC, Canada is the best in the business.
Best of luck.
