W205 C63 Mechanical Diff Service
Hi all,
Here's some news that might benefit other users, as I know there's been some confusion regarding the first diff oil service for the mechanical diff in the base C63. I know most have the C63S with the electronic diff, so I don't think this applies, but hopefully it will help some.
A little background: when I purchased my C63 in the UK I was told that the car did not need the diff oil changed after a few thousand miles, that the first service would be at a year as per the rest of the MB range.
The service manual, however, recommended—although didn't enforce—a diff oil service for mechanical diffs at 1,850 miles. With that in mind and that mileage approaching, I called the dealer, who insisted no service was required.
A while later, a got a call back from the dealer, who had asked around and uncovered a bulletin from 2011 that stated that all AMG vehicles with part number 471 (the same for the W204 C63 PP diff AND the W205 C63 standard diff) will receive a complimentary service when quoting reference number SV-1327, but at 2,000 miles and not 1,850.
Apparently this information should have been sent to me on week two of ownership, but that was not the case. Why, no one seems to know, and why they are telling people not to get the service, I also don't know, but at least now I can get the service and get it for free.
Hopefully this information helps some of you as well.
Thanks,
Andrew

I also have the non s c63 and it had a sticker on the windshield which stated to change the differential oil at 1800 miles, and proceeded to leave it there until the service was completed.

Ouch! I would've thought a complimentary diff service would have been a global initiative. Apparently not!

Had my C63S Estate for a month now and had a letter from AMG stating the locking diff needs an oil change at 2000 miles. Book it into a local dealer and the work will be done free of charge. Staggered to hear you have to pay $170 in the US...

as far as I know non S versions dont need a diff oil change. S versions have LSD thus require a diff service done at 3000km. I had a slk55 with non LSD and didnt perform an oil change.

The non-S has the mechanical slippy diff rather than the S's electronic diff, both require a 2k mile service. I have the non-S and had mine done for free a few weeks ago.
