Problems with the new C63s coupe

Hello, guys!
After months of waiting, my new car has finally arrived
(some photos of this beauty)

So when I was taking it from a dealership I noticed that the RPM needle is fluctuating a bit in idle, sometimes (+- 50 RPM or less). But it is clearly noticeable at random times.
The salesperson said it's OK for this type of car, but I am not sure if he was right.

Also, when I drove a bit (not exceeding the limit of 3500-4000RPM for a new car) I felt a weird burnt smell, but not from the wheels/exhaust/engine, it appeared like it was near the driver's seat, maybe from an A/C. The smell is like... uhm. Not sure if it's like burnt oil smell, it is more like.. If you place an iron on silk fabric and wait until it is burnt.
But I could even feel it standing in 5 feet from the car.
I called the dealership, they said it may be OK, because of a new car and so on.
But I am a bit afraid.

Thank you!
Dimitry

I didn't come to work in the Merc today so I can't test the RPM needle fluctutation but no weird smells in mine. On the face of it I would imagine a +/- 50 rpm wobble would be OK on a brand new C63, engine still very tight... etc..

HOWEVER - Your car looks awesome

Thank you, DragonRR!

So the salesperson has said, it's a regular thing for the new AMGs about the RPMs (he had tested C63s, AMG GTs and noticed the same)

But what about the smell - not sure, I'm afraid it could be some gasket leak or something... But no other sympthoms, just the smell. And the RPMs (not sure if these two are associated with each other).

The smell - 5ft from your car - Hmmm doesn't sound good. Suggest you go back to the dealer and get them to put it on a ramp and look and see if there is anything obvious. Could be a piece of plastic sat on the exhaust or anything!

The fluctuations are normal even in the sedan (ofcourse same engine). The smell will go away after a week of driving or so. Its the new car thing. I forgot the name of it, but it needs to burn off. Only if car has been seating for months at the dealer's lot it wont do it because it dries naturally, but if its fresh from factory it will take some driving and heat cycles to burn off that stuff. Kneel down and smell it, it should be coming from underneath the car.

Just go out drive it and break it in. By the time you hit the break in mileage smell will stop. Actually even my BMW and Range Rover also did this so its not even a mercedes thing.

Seconded

If I could live with the matte paint on a daily, I would get this spec exactly.

You can. You just have to get a PPF in matte finish and it's done. XPEL Stealth is excellent

http://www.xpel.com/xpel-stealth-film/

Or get in gray, wrap it in Xpel Matte and you'll get something close to that look swirls free for as long as you have the film applied. It does an excellent job at protecting the paint.

Very interesting. My selenite gray metallic gets here next month maybe I will get the matte xpel. Thanks for info, I didn't know that was a thing.

Yes, it's SO worth it. My car has clear gloss PPF, the paint lookd brand new and swirls free. Just like the day it came out from the show room. Rock chips will be a thing of the past as well. I use my car like a tank haha. If someone keys your car, you just have to peel off the film and put a new one.

Look at this vid:

Expensive but worth it. Make sure to pick the best installer you can find and don't trust what they say (they all pretend they're the best) or their yelp reviews. My installer screwed me over even though they had 5* on Yelp.

The smell is most likely the undercoating that all cars come with. It's perfectly normal.

I believe the chemical that burns off is called tourmaline and is designed to prevent oxidation in the engine and exhaust components...

Thank you, guys!
So I own the car since October 2016, everything goes well.

Decided to protect the car with the Hexis Bodyfence Matte film, looks almost the same, the Matte style remains while the whole body is protected against scratches, small chips etc. You can see the difference only on a bright sunny day, the car begins to shine more than usual (comparing to plain Magno Selenite Grey).

P.S. The 'burning' smell has disappeared in just two weeks or so.
