Buying Second ECU for tune
Hi Guys,
I am new to tuning.
I live in the metro New York area and have come to find that no shops exist in the area that can perform a tune on my w205 c63s.
It seems that the ECU must be pulled then overnighted to out of state shops who bench flash then returned to me.
This is inconvenient as this car is my daily driver, which will be out of service for 3 days. I also want the ability to switch ECUs quickly if needed.
Has anyone bought a second ECU?
I understand it must be coded to your car. How is that done?
Is the coding done at the dealership? If so, will they know I plan on tuning the car. I only ask in case of warranty issues.
Thanks for your help.

Removing the ECU is not the question. Has anyone purchased a second ECU and had it coded at the dealership?

Maybe Eruotune will do a remote tune. Basically they'll send you an OB II USB connector, you download their program, plug into your car with the program running, it generates a EUI file, you email that to them, and finally, they send you back a tuned EUI file-then you run the program.

I think someone on this forum has gone the second ECU route. however you are looking at a few hours each time to remove and switch them. it is accessible through the passenger wheel well(from the hints i have gotten).
since you are in the New york area there are actually a few tuners local that can do your flash. There is 3 i can think of within a 30 minute drive.
let me know and I can put you in touch with the guy i was thinking about for the spring. They just got a c63S shop car and just went stage 2. its a beast

Right now I am working with DME. they are local, work with 2 shops i have dealt with, and tuned a friends car with great results.
I plan to do it soon, and head strait to the track. i have done a bunch of runs stock and with the current mods(exhaust, wheels, intake) so i have a good baseline to see how it improved
