The new E63s AMG

Sorry this is not C class related but had to share.

The new E63s details just got released - and WOW!

600+hp (0-100 3.3 secs) - this is quicker than the GTR.

http://www.autoblog.com/2016/10/25/2...-e63s-details/

What a beast of a car... the new generation of AMGs are ridiculous.

Current 2014-2016 e63S does 3.2-3.3 0-60mph, the engine putting down 630/650 realistically

new e63S is pimp however ... waiting for bugs to be worked out and I'm in

Oh don't get me wrong the current one is a beast... but this is stock.

That exhaust tone is sick.

I agree, I had the 2015 sedan and had consent problems. Best to wait for the bugs/ issues to be resolved.

I wonder if they will come out with a 2 door E63s

good question about the coupe.... it would fit in between the c and S coupe ... I can see a place for it though it'll have low low sales volume

curious what this new e63 will dyno

I think it looks good. I don't like the fact that it's AWD, but I guess you need that to effectively put down 600+ hp. Not sure I could justify the price difference between a C63 S sedan, but still a great car.

I read *havent confirmed* that the car has a mode where it sends 100 percent power to the rear

According to the press release, it comes with new twin-scroll turbochargers, exhaust manifolds, and pistons.

New peak of performance: 4.0-litre V8 biturbo engine with twin-scroll turbochargers

The versatile AMG 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine in the E 63 S 4MATIC+ takes peak performance to a new level at 450 kW (612 hp). Maximum torque attains a new best value of 850 Nm. It is available over a broad engine speed range of 2500 to 4500 rpm and so provides a feeling of effortless superiority in every accelerator pedal position. A sprint from zero to 100 km/h is absolved in 3.4 seconds, and this dynamic acceleration only ends at the governed top speed of 250 km/h (with AMG Driver's package: 300 km/h). The E 63 4MATIC+ is rated at 420 kW (571 hp) and has 750 Nm of torque. This variant accelerates to 100 km/h in 3.5 seconds.

The advanced AMG 4.0-litre V8 biturbo engine utilises well-proven twin turbocharging, with the two chargers not located outside on the cylinder banks, but rather between them in the V of the cylinders. The advantages of the "hot inner V" are a compact engine design, an immediate response from the twin-scroll turbochargers and low exhaust gas emissions thanks to optimum air flow for the close-coupled catalytic converters.

Two twin-scroll turbochargers are deployed for the first time to boost performance and improve responsiveness further. The housing is divided into two parallel flow passages. Combined with two separate exhaust ducts in the exhaust manifold, this makes it possible to control the exhaust gases on the turbine wheel separately. The exhaust gas from the first and fourth cylinders of the cylinder bank is fed into one duct and exhaust gas from the second and third cylinders to the other duct. The aim is to prevent the individual cylinders from having mutually adverse effects on the gas cycle. This reduces the exhaust gas back pressure and improves gas exchange.

The results are increased output due to improved cylinder charge with fresh mixture, more torque at low revs and very immediate response times.

Other engine measures include new pistons, an optimised air intake and charge air cooling, as well as extensive software developments. Spray-guided direct petrol injection with piezo injectors, the all-aluminium crankcase, the four-valve-per-cylinder design with camshaft adjustment, air-water charge air cooling, alternator management, the ECO start/stop function and the gliding mode have all been retained. To sum up, the eight-cylinder engine thrills with its exceptional power delivery and powerful acceleration in all engine speed ranges combined with maximum efficiency for low consumption and emission values.

Looks like a slightly bigger version of the C63, heh.

The biggest thing I'm seeing here is that current C63S tunes are well within the safe limits of the engine.

Love it (mostly). Looks and sounds like an absolute monster, and those performance figures are jaw-dropping.

My only gripe is the styling; front end is great but the rear is just too plain and 'standard' looking. Flared rear wheel arches would have solved that imo.

Anyway, such things will definitely make their way to the E63 coupe and cabrio which will no doubt be even more outrageous in terms of capabilities than this.

ha I hear ya, the previous gen did not though, right? I think if the E is significantly bigger than the C coupe it would be too close to the S coupe.

Yes, the older generation felt dated!

I agree with TRIM the sedan looks basic... it needs more flare.

Bit like the RS7 & RS6 they look fat.

Please make mine black, preferably with a night package. And some black wheels.

So RSs, Ms, ALPINAs, Vs, and SVRs back off; you don't want none of this.

I hope there's an E63 coupe. E-Class has always been my preferred MB. My dad always had one since I was a baby. Myth says I was born in one... Would love to get a coupe.

2016 C63 Wagon

Do I spy 20" 10 spoke wheels on the E63 (like the rears on the coupe) on both the front and the back?
Will they fit a C63 wagon? I love my OEM look, but would prefer 20". I assume the coupe 20" would fit the rear of the sedan/wagon, but they would be too wide and the offset wouldn't be suitable for the front.
If the E63 did fit, it would probably cost prohibitive to buy them from MB. Do any aftermarket 20" replicas exist?
