I knew when I ordered this car the bumps were going to go. The $800 surgery was factored in like a must have option to enjoy the car.
When I took it to the body shop it was 2 days days after delivery and had 35 miles on it.
No regrets !!!!

$800 was a hell of a deal. I paid $1400 to have mine removed but it was well worth it.

Looks awesome. I've been trying to figure out if all the US models have these ugly protrusions or if it was only for certain trims, etc. Would it be possible to swap to a European bumper? Or a nice aftermarket one (if they have them?). I supposed $1,000 +\- is worth it to put it under the knife

This was money well spent. I was not going to own that car with those bumps on the bumper. I've always driven coups but I loved the C 63S concept but no coupe available. . I bought a 2015 C 63S sedan, lhey did not have them on it.The minute the 2017 Coups were available to pre-ordered,i did. . The dealer was very fair on swapping me to a new lease. Upon delivery those bumps just stuck out, they looked ridiculous and had to go, no question after looking at the *** end of that sedan for two years without them. Body shops these days can match paint perfectly. You could never tell my car was ever touched. The finished product looks like the natural lines that was meant to be delivered. I don't think they're on the European cars. My thoughts are this was just a quick MB fix to get around the USA 5 MPH bumper requirements and was poorly done.
Why aren't they on the sedan?

Can you remove them without taking off the bumper?

No, because you have to paint the spots where the bumper warts were taken off and then re-clear the whole bumper. If you don't take the bumper off, the clear coat could start peeling by the edges where it meets the other panels.

I'm guessing a later version of the couple will not have the bumper warts on it. The early Porsche 996's had this same issue, but I got a later model where it was revised to remove those warts.

The bumps on the AMG GT look even worse.

Nice work, OP. I think I may have to do the same thing.

Bumper removal is required.
If you look at the original pics of the bumper off, those lines going around the hole are slots.
Matching male plastic legs extend from the bumps and they snap lock once pushed firmly to the bumper.
The only way to remove them from behind.

2019 C63S Coupe - Graphite Grey Magno
I suspect I know the answer to this, already, but hopefully I'll be pleasantly surprised: What're the chances I can do this to a magno car? I'm not liking the 'roids on the coupe, either, but if I can't get a perfect match on the paint, I'll have to learn to live with it. Any advice appreciated.

It'll be tough. You'll definitely need to find a good bodyshop that you trust to do the work. My car is Diamond White (aka white pearl) was tough to match because the bumper is plastic while the quarter panel is metal. Therefore different materials. Depending on the angle of the light, you can tell a slight difference but it was this way stock too. The bodyshop I went to did a great job on matching the paint on my car. To the naked eyes, one won't be able to tell.

I take this back. The job was flawless the first few days but after 3 weeks, My rear bumper is now bubbling . It is an on going headache looking at my car's rear bumper lol

I am in the process of getting it fixed at another bodyshop or order the euro spec rear bumper. Does anyone know how much that would cost ?

hey, how is the bumper holding up since you removed the warts? I’m on the same boat, I’m shipping my car to Portugal and wanna remove them in order to accommodate the European plate. I’ve been to 5 different body shops and all of them tell me it will crack blah blah blah. I was thinking of ordering the European bumper but cost and shipping is stupid expensive.. now I’m unsure on what to do…

From my personal experience. Don't do it. The paint on my rear bumper bubble after a year. Its very hard to find a reputable shop to do it 100%. I suggest trying to find a euro spec bumper and see if it would work.
