You will need to drop the transmission unless you want to cut your OEM DPs and install aftermarket.

No, the stock downpipes are the issue. Since all the cars come with the same stock down pipes, they will all need either the transmission dropped or to be cut out.

Obviously since you are replacing them with cat less after market ones. Drive train warranty will be affected.

*powertrain.

Most dealers don't care too much about exhaust modifications. But if your motor/turbos blow, you can bet your *** that 99% of them will claim that the DPs were the cause of it and void you warranty.

If you could somehow put the stock downpipes/cats back in place and weld them back together, you could probably get away with not ever dropping the trans. I haven't seen what it looks like under there but I doubt it's possible as I'm sure it's too tight to pull that off.

I always wonder if v-band flanges could be put on at the cuts to make an easy and quick re-install for the stockers.

As long as you can make a clean and strait cut, that would be very easy to do.

I just pulled my stock downpipes tonight (c450) actually. I LOVE v-bands so so so soooooo much! On a normal 3/4 bolt flange, those are usually the most PITA part of the job. But with v-bands, I think that was quite possibly the easiest part of the job right behind popping the hood lol
