To me it does not matter if it is separate. As long as I do not see any C63 owners butting into our forum and leaving posts like "That's not a real AMG". Like I have said a lot of times before, it is not up to anyone here to make that call. Mercedes classified it as an AMG, even the sales of the C43 is counted towards the stats of the AMG division. EOD they decide what that three lettered badge entails to them, not the buyers.

As for convenience of having two separate forums, except for the powertrain, suspension and few body panels, these two cars were sharing everything else. Majority of the threads in this subforum were addressed by users from both the groups which in my eyes were way more constructive. Majority of the issues here were powertrain independent ones, which both of the groups could have supported and has been supporting until now. To me forums are there for us to troubleshoot problems for each other and provide feedback that most of the dealerships can’t. Starting from rattling issues to exhaust options, these cars shared a lot of problems that I have seen both the groups tackle for each other.

Let’s be honest though, the separation in question has little to do with the convenience and almost everything to do with the ego that is fed by paying $15k more for a car.

That’s just my opinion. Feel free to disagree, haha.

Real AMG = "One man, one engine" + The highest of AMG's overall tuning expertise & developmental prowess applied. (READ: Insanity)

Not REALLY an AMG = Substantial AMG expertise, development, etc. put into the vehicle + Phony-Baloney nameplate nonsense to make the buyer feel better. (READ: A boost to your ego.)

Any questions?

But you can tell yourself its an ego thing.
I concur totally. The need for separation has everything to do with differentiating technical issues, not a person's (undisclosed) emotional issues.

From a clinical standpoint, when an individual needs the AMG C43 nameplate to boost his or her ego, said individual sometimes "projects" that need to be validated onto others that simply chose to spend an additional $15K for a REAL Affalterbach special. The one with the highest technical development. (READ: It's a free country, as well as don't tell how to spend my cash and I won't tell you....you get it.)

Now, as the 450/43 has been given substantial upgrades in 5-10 ways for only about $2-3K in base price increase - for example...additional 3.0 tuning, suspension, dampers, exhaust, brakes, body cladding, 4matic rework, etc., it ain't no damn AMG!

Why the *&!% is that so hard to understand?

Ultimately, call me stupid if you want for swapping out my 63 for a 450. Hell, tell me my sh...., 'scuse me, "stuff" ain't a real one all you want, too. I've no real ego to offend, anyway. I just know I luuuv my fake AMG 450 or 43 or whatever you want to call it.

Frickin' ego trippin' people never cease to amaze me at how big their heads are. In their minds the badge makes the man. Estupido.

BMW 340i ≠ BMW M3
AMG C43 ≠ AMG C63/S

It's quite simple, actually. The C450/C43 is positioned against the 340i, S4, etc. and has very little in common with a C63/S which has different part sizes, fitments, aftermarket, etc. Can you imagine the cluster if Bimmerpost lumped the 340i in with the M3 forum and there was no separation?

It's not about "pride", it's about function and the ability to browse and search for topics that are relevant to owners.

The topic of what's a real AMG is a different discussion all together. Personally, coming from Bimmerpost, I feel the current setup here is a bit of a mess and I'm looking forward to the new separation. As others mentioned, it's important to consolidate C63 specific topics in one place for the convenience of looking up things like tire fitment, body parts and bits and what others have done to their C63.

The C43 guys definitely add value and I'll most likely be lurking in the C43 sub to see what's new there. Overall I think everyone will be happy with a separate sub.

Thank you mods for working on this 🙏ðŸ½
