Hi guys

Still in a debate with myself whether getting a c63s or not....

Main issue for me is the RWD. I recently tested a C63 AMG and was very slippery even in dry conditions.

Question, Is the c63s somehow more stable because of the electronic differential? Or it feels same as the c63...

Many thanks again for your help!

Compared to your RS5: It is slippery. My last car was an E550 4matic (2012) and it was a totally different way to drive. However, the loose rearend is part of the fun for me

I agree the car is tail happy but like JMG said, its part of the fun. My approach was to burn through the ****ty tires that come on the car and replace them with a little wider tire 275-285 PSS or whatever you prefer. Makes a world of difference!

Also depends on if the car you tested had a LSD or not. That will help a ton.

They all have LSD. Just depends on if its mechanical or electronic C63/C63s

To be honest if you have the funds- go for the c63s.. at the time of my purchase i didnt and got a great deal on a ex demo regular c63 which i enjoy endlessly even as a daily driver rather than a weekend car. But to answer the question on grip truthfully, the c63 in my opinion is about the noise power and somewhat good practicality and the grip- i believe- is not really an issue. Its apart of the cars personality and nature as a v8 AMG. If youre not keen on how it preforms in terms of grip, maybe wait for the new rs5 and drive that and make a decision to see if you are willing to sacrafice personality and pure v8 enjoyment for more 'safety' and grip.

Thanks guys.

Yes the thing is I am used to drive Audi AWD style...

Not sure about the LSD, the car was a unit the have for press testing and reviews, maybe it was way too punished

Yes, new Audi RS5 is an option, but would be more of the same...

Another option if funds are not an issue, wait for E63s AWD with 600HP! Contact your local financial advisor before purchase! HA!

Another option is to wait a couple of months and look around for c43's. I believe they are all wheel drive, and if it isnt powerful enough- they might bring out an 's' model (not certain at all). I was going to get a new c43- however the noise isnt quite the same and i'd **** my pants if i pulled up to some lights and a c63 sneaks aside me..

Yes, I read about this option several times, does it really improve grip?

The general consensus is that the Michelin PSS is the best summer tyre for the C63, a jack of all trades in terms of grip and comfort (My coupe came with them and I have no complaints even in Autumn/Winter British weather).

Bear in mind that its replacement the PS4S is now available and is supposed to be even better. I plan to replace mine with those (and increase the tyre size) when the time comes.

Increasing size means 265 in the front and 295 in the rear right?

What mode did you have it on the test drive? That will change the behavior of car as well. You have to remember that RWD vs AWD is just a little different when punching it and have to realize they have different results, which you have to account for. It took a few minutes to adjust my driving style since I was coming from a '15 S4.

If you don't enjoy the fact that it loses traction in the rear and you can't learn throttle control then don't buy it. I'm not trying to sound like a jerk, but you need to know a little bit about what you're doing or the car isn't for you. It's a lot of torque and no matter what you do for tires or upgrades or what diff you have you will lose traction. Just control it. If you have to smash the pedal and go, then awd is your answer.

I was tossing up between an RS6 and the C63. RS6 had amazing traction and you could plant your foot and it would grip and take off. Amazing acceleration, but a really dull car to have as a daily driver. It felt disconnected from the road.
In the C63 you can only plant your foot when it's dry and you have all the traction control options on. Even then you will get the wheels spinning before the traction control kicks in. It's a very manageable loss of traction in the dry in a straight line. Things get much more exciting if it's wet or you are going round a corner and plant your foot. But you learn to control the throttle much more.
For me the drive in the C63 is so much more engaging than any Audi RS. I always get out with a smile on my face.
The RS is practical and fast, but the C63 is just outright fun and more of a drivers car!
The decision really depends on what is important to you - it really feels like Mercedes and Audi are targeting different markets.

Wait, 295's fit on the stock rears? I know 285's fit without rubbing issues...

Yo do not sound like a jerk, you are absolutely right. That is exactly what I need to consider.

305s can fit onto the coupe. Possibly 315.

The tires that come on the car are not ***tty, lol gosh buddy. Burning through about $1,750 of Michelin tires to replace with some POS wider tire, gimme a break.
