Exhaust valve on during start up?

Is there a way to change the default setting on my C63s coupe to have the exhaust valve open when I start the car?

Only compromise is: ignition on, press the exhaust button (or go into Sport+) then start the car

Or like I do push the start and Immediately push the mode button to "I" mode and by time it starts it is in S+ and exhaust is open.

Your car should remember what mode you were driving in for approximately 4 hours after you turn off the car. Any longer than this and then it reverts to comfort mode when you start up. Apparently it's a safety feature so unsuspecting drivers don't hop in when you have it set to race mode with the traction control off and end up wrapping themselves around a pole

Unfortunately, that is not the case for US coded vehicles. As soon as you shut down the car, it reverts back to Comfort. Maybe it can be coded in for us some day?

The best method would be to get the valves opened and unplug the harness for the actuators so they are stuck in that position permanently.

Might be a shot in the dark here but on previous M4 we actually wired the valves open so that the car always had that louder cold start up. Is that something we can do here?

This will cause a CEL and in some cases pull back power.

Just tested it works in all modes individual / comfort / sport / sport + / race

It's always left in individual though

Only thing that doesn't remain based on the last setting is sport traction if I leave it in individual...but valves are definitely opened all the time unless left in comfort

What country are you in?
In the US it is a EPA thing as the car Mfg. cant' count the mileage gain with the start stop if it does not default to comfort.

The W222 S63 has the same actuators and am told it will pull power if unplugged. The way they are mounted doesn't allow wiring them open like the BMW cars. If you set the actuator aside and leave valve open the motors spin freely and it throws a code.

On the S63 the valve stay shut on Comfort, on Sport at idle it opens very slightly and its opening varies by throttle actuation. I don't understand the point of this design as it creates a lot of wear and tear for the electric motors.

I would be interested to hear any ideas to keep them completely open at all times.

Very interesting indeed. The car is only supposed to keep drive select/exhaust/esp settings for 4 hours until it all resets to comfort.

Where does it say that? If you can post a valid source that would be great.

Interesting that you mention at idle...

I'm almost always in either race or individual mode, and the noise at idle greatly depends on how hard you have your foot on the brakes.

The harder you press, the quieter it gets.

One upside to the domestic simpleton's ... in my Corvette I just pull fuse # 10 from under the passenger side dash fuse box, and it keeps the NPP flaps open at all times. Throw the fuse back in, and the NPP exhaust goes back to its normal operating procedure of opening at 3000rpm.

In the 'Dynamic Select Switch' chapter of the owners manual:

"If the ignition is switched off for less than four hours, the previously selected drive program is activated when the engine is next started. If the ignition is switched off for more than four hours, drive program C is activated when the engine is next started."

Not for NA cars as stated above unfortunately. I really wish Benzes could be coded like my M's: turn off ambers, turn off chimes, turn off Nav warnings, turn off amber lights, etc...
