Yup y'all read that right. Last night I was hanging out with some friends and opened the good of the car to find a ton of the insulation on the underside of the hood EATEN AWAY!
This morning, I also found some wiring damage...
Dropped her off at the dealer to get checked out. I should find out more on Monday. At least I have a fairly low insurance deductible.
now for a couple pics:

Invest in some electric traps because mice, squirrels, and even chipmunks can be this destructive. They get really desperate when temperatures change suddenly and a warm engine provides warmth for hours. I had something like this happen to me as well years ago.

MBWorld Fanatic!
I just had a little mouse eat some wiring on my Audi A6 - caused a CEL and a $700 repair from the stealership... I feel your pain. Good luck and kill that guy, they can wreak havoc on wiring and hoses.

Would putting rat bait around you parking space work? There's this stray cat that keeps on spraying pee on my front splitter and it just pisses me off! After reading your post and seeing the pics, i guess I shouldn't complain... i'd rather clean cat **** and keep the mice away! good luck on having it fixed.

Hey, thanks for the replies!
So I was moving recently and the car was sitting in the driveway at my old house for a little bit. The house is right next to a rain ditch and it has been quite wet recently. I have a feeling that's where it happened. The new place (temp rental while we build a home) is better, but I still don't trust it.
The service writer suggested these Tomcat things (not sold in CA but Amazon will deliver them) that attract the mice/rodents to eat, but makes them extremely thirsty, so the go after water right away, which kills them. I'm going to scatter these around the garage.
still waiting for MB to get back to me, but I have already been talking with my Insurance guy and I only have a $250 deductible so the hit shouldn't be that bad.

Small update:
Damage is $1788 from the dealer. Some wiring, the intercooler coolent hose and the pad under the hood. Insurance claim filed and I'll be only responsible for my deductible. None of the parts are coming from Germany, so should have the car back by Thursday - so I'll be able to drive her to Monterrey for the AMG driving academy!

Just be careful with those rodent baits, specially if you have kids and pets... don't forget to wear gloves and wash your hands thoroughly, after.

Ouch, $1788! At least your insurance will take care of it for a fraction of the cost. But, i'm glad it all worked out for you, including the drive to AMG driving academy!
