Nice, I'm looking to do the same thing... how much did it cost you? Does that front grill piece just come off, or do you have to remove the front bumper?

Whole bumper has to come off. I just had it done at the same time I painted the badges and powder coated the wheels. I spent $1350 total, including buying new side badges to paint (they said they wouldn't be able to remount them straight)... Only took 4 days for everything. Dropped it off Monday morning and picked it up Thursday evening.

Not sure why the OP's guy took a week for just the grill.

I paid $200 to paint the grill with multiple coats including clear coat.

Mercedes charged me $253 to install and put illuminated star in.

they did not remove grill....only chrome pieces, which snap in. Actually watched tech do it....there is an access panel under hood that had to be removed to get access, but whole think took less then 1 hour.

My bumper did not have to be removed.

Interesting. I've got the sedan... without the illuminated star. Wonder if that makes a difference... maybe that's why they had to take my bumper off.

Could be different models. Mine was a single removable piece....item 40 in the 2nd picture.

I know I had a issues when the car first arrived. A back piece was damaged in shipping. Mercedes originally said back bumper had to be removed - 3 days, 2 techs due to all the sensors.

I dropped off car and they called me in 30 min. A senior tech knew how to install without removing bumper.

You might challenge it.

Maybe... I just had it done by a little body shop... they definitely didn't have much experience with my car. They actually told me afterwards that they should have charged more because they had to completely remove the front bumper to access the grill.

Just the part in your pic and the star. The black mesh in the backround was already black... so no need to remove it.

But tbh, I have no idea... I just dropped it off... then picked it up. I didn't watch them do anything.
