Famzy's Selenite Grey C63 build
So I finally picked up the car two weeks ago and oh man, what a car
coming from a BMW 435 x-drive, still getting used to putting down the power in the C63. I love how it's tail happy yet controllable.
My Spec:
- Selenite Grey Exterior
- Red/Black pepper exterior
- Open Pore ash wood & aluminum trim
- performance seats
- night package
- Intelligent Drive Package
- Premium Package
- Heads up Display
- 360 degree camera
- Air Balance kit
mods to do:
- window tints
- new wheels - 20x10 fronts, 20x11 rear on wider tires
- lowered on KW HAS
- de-badged
- gloss black roof
- Autoflex paint protection in another OEM color
- exterior CF bits (mirror covers, spoiler, diffuser)

I got her tinted already. She's in the shop again week, getting Autoflex done in an OEM color. I'll be doing the body and door handles in one color, and the roof in gloss black.
I got it de-badged all around except for the black hood badge and 3 pointed star on the rear view camera. The shop is not able to get materials behind the mirrors so they had to take of the door panels to get at the mirrors.
Next two weeks I have wheels, tires, and KW HAS coming.

Unlike ECU tuning or exhaust mods, all the panels and mouldings clip back on and the autoflex is completely reversible.
Here are some pictures I took today as they were masking it off.
Base coat goes on tomorrow morning, colour coat goes on in the afternoon and the clear coat on Tuesday. The product hardens like a wrap and lasts for 5 years before it degrades and I can peel it off at any time.

Yes it's more $$ but so is a wrap or PPF
Unlike a wrap though, I can wash, polish, and wax this. It also doesn't leave any knife marks or scratches. From a cost perspective it's more affordable than a wrap and behaves just like paint.
I have a friend who got Brilliant Blue but hasn't taken delivery yet. I'll do a comparison photo when he picks it up.

Yea it definitely is cheaper, but I don't think it holds up anywhere near as well as PPF or vinyl.
Also, *DO NOT LET EVEN A DROP OF GAS* drip onto it. Otherwise it will *instantaneously* eat away at the plasti dip. And it's not really repairable...

The only plastidip used is the PDS base, they used 10 coats of the base before spraying the real stuff.

Yea it's basically a plastidip base coat with a special clearcoat sprayed over it called "Autoflex." The clearcoat is what gives it that paint-like gloss finish (unlike Plastidip).

The primary reason I did this was for paint protection, the color was was just for fun. I was originally going to get a 2017 M3 in this colour until I test drove the C63.

I finally took some shots under the sun today. It looks incredible, the paint has some holograms in it so I'll have to take it to a detailer for compound and polish.

That's crazy how much that cost you. I'd imagine it'd be more, with spraying several coats (that and I just assume painting anything costs more).
Anyways, looking good and I'm curious to how it stands against the elements and wear!

Painting is the easy part though, if they had all the materials it would have taken them no more than 2 days. Taking off the panels and masking everything off is the hard part.
I think the price is so low because it's a fairly new process and a lot of people aren't convinced it holds up. I'm sure the cost will go up to match other PPF products eventually.
I plan to drive this in the winter and rain so will see how it holds up. They say it will hold up just like paint, stone chips, swirls, scratches, etc and lasts up to 5 years with proper care and maintenance. I'll be happy if it lasts two years

Finally got new wheels and lowered on KW HAS.
Tires are +1 all around. 265/30/20 front and 295/30/20 rear. Dropped ~30mm all around.
Very happy with the results!
