Ok - so I'm in a loaner.
This car has sophistication in the COMAND system that:
1) Displays album art on Sirius
2) Has a significantly different 360 degree camera system
3) Interface on the COMAND system to interact via voice is MUCH better
4) Interface on the COMAND system to modify/change voice and other levels
5) Bermeister sound system is DRAMATICALLY better

I'm a bit confused.... why are there so many variations to COMAND within vehicles of the same model year. It CANNOT be just the price of the vehicle.

I'd say it probably is mostly the price - the E300 starts 33% higher than the C300 - ~$13k comparing current base prices. That's not chump change.

But it may also have to do with when the cars were introduced. The W213 E-Class was introduced in 2016 whereas the W205 C-Class was introduced in 2014, and with the delay in getting Apple CarPlay/Android Auto integrated into the W205, it's not hard to imagine the infotainment components being a couple generations behind what's in the W213.

Or it could purely be a software difference done strictly for price/positioning reasons.

I'm thinking it's software....
There would need to be a different video system to support the larger screen, but I'm sick of these manufacturers making their hardware incompatibility between models and years... I can see at least 50 interior pieces the C and E share. They could do this with software and some hardware, like Tesla.

Oh, and the Mercedes is so locked down for software customization, it's absurd. Even Lexus can be customized.....

It's not just the above...go drive or ask anyone who has owned both E and C of the same generation and they'll tell you there's an obvious "step up" in just about everything, same applies to all the class models, it's obvious MB make the divide to justify the price points.

E class interior is on a new class! I agree... In my last test drive I was blown away of share amount of features and options available it one hell of a system and actually very sophisticated to use at the begging but so nice!

I looked at the e43 since it was in the same price range as the c63s. I love the interior of the e-class because it definitely looks and feels a step up from the c-class. I didn't even think twice about it after I drove the c63s. Also, the stock e43 exhaust sounded terrible like it was struggling to let the exhaust gases out the rear. I'm not sure if it would sound better with the performance exhaust.
