Foam Cannon Set Up

Hey Guys,

I was looking into getting a foam cannon set up. Those of you who have one, mind sharing what you guys are using? I am a bit torn between gas vs electric pressure washers. Also which foam gun/ setup to use.

I was specifically wondering the psi/ flow rate you guys are using for getting good foaming.

I use this electric pressure washer:

and I use this foam gun with the pressure washer:

Amazon Amazon

I get great foam action using this set-up and would not waste money on buying anything more expensive. However, I did buy the pressure washer from home depot when they had a sale for $70.

Thanks for sharing! I heard that if the flow rate is below 2.2 GPM, the foam that comes out apparently is extremely runny. Also did you get new hoses or use just the one that comes with the pressure washer? Also what about the gun, haha?

PS: Are you from Canada? If so did you get it from Amazon?

My foam does not run at all. the foam gun itself has an adjuster, which helps you choose how thick you want the foam. This setup works just like the videos you see on Instagram - no runny business.

I didn't buy any additional hoses or anything. I just connect the foam cannon to the pressure washer gun - no new gun or hoses.

I am from Texas - bought the foam cannon gun from Amazon and the pressure washer from Home Depot just because they had that deal. If not, I probably would have bought it from Amazon

Throwing this out there: if you're interested in a slightly cheaper option (besides pressure washer plus cannon), I bought this thing four years ago and have been quite happy with it. Obviously, you won't get the level of foam/suds you get from a true cannon, but IMO it's enough to get a good soaping.

I find that the foam gun is a bigger factor than the pressure washer for good foam. Make sure to buy one with brass fittings instead of plastic. Foam mixture is a very personal thing. I use valet pro ph neutral snow foam with around 5% valet pro citrus pre wash added for extra dirt removal. Not sure if it's available outside of the uk or not.

I have the full professional gear with additional snow Foamer. The foam does nothing to remove dirt and grime betting the initial spray. The upside is it goes on this I so you cover the whole car and then wash it with a microfibres glove and just an rinse bucket. So I just use the foam as suds to clean the car. Stays thick and you can see where you have washed and as it’s thick it doesn’t dry before rinse.

I use a Subaru PowerStroke Gas pressure-washer w/ 3100PSI and 2.4LPM. I just chose gas since I use it around the house as well to clean the driveway and walls of the house. If you're just going to use the pressure washer as a carwash, then you can probably just get by with an electric power washer, which is more more convenient, admittedly. I got an MTM foam lance from amazon... a bit on the pricier side, but works well and has brass fittings and will last for a long long time. You can adjust soap to water ratio with the lance to the point where it's super thick foam that doesn't go ANYWHERE when it hits the car. I can't say the foam lance matters that much... can probably go with any of the hundreds of choices out there haha.

This is the one I have now. Sunjoe with MTM foam cannon and gun. The new Foam lance came with a smaller orifice as well which gives out extremely thick foam. Loving my current setup. Did not find the need for gas washer anymore.

Can you post what setup this is? I have the MTM foam cannon with sun joe and while my foam isn't bad, it's not as thick as yours. Why this matters I don't really know haha.

You still need a power washer, electric will do the trick.

Well the general consensus is that thicker and stickier the foam, the more it will carry te grime and dirt down with it as you sit. If you car is coated this is enough, just pressure wash the soap away with water and the girl should be clean with no swirl marks. Otherwise you will probably need to do another layer of foam, then scrub the car. The foam then just acts as lubricant as not to scratch your paint.

So I have the following:

1) Sunjoe SPX 3000 Pressure washer
2) From MTM's website. This one comes with the 1.1mm orifice, which you need for getting thick foam using Sunjoe. Replace the 1.25mm with 1.1mm.

3) Quick disconnects for making things easy

4) Ordered from Obsessed Garage ( Comes with the Quick disconnects for attaching it to Sunjoe Hose really quick)

5) Adam's Car Shampoo- Simply amazing this one. Just get the normal one and fill the bottle 1/4 way, mix the rest with warm water.

And that is it.

Thank you, I must have the larger orifice. I'm also still not convinced that the thickness of the foam matters at all ha, but why not.

This is my routine and products - Got to be careful with black :O
1) I use a Gerni pressure washer (1885psi) for the initial clean. https://www.gerni.com.au/en/products...aspx?fid=16668
2) Foam Lace gun - https://www.carcareproducts.com.au/p...now_foam_lance
3) Snow foam - https://www.carcareproducts.com.au/p...upa_snow_foam_
4) Wheel cleaner & Brush - https://www.carcareproducts.com.au/p...gyeon/q2m_iron & https://www.carcareproducts.com.au/p...ax/wheel_brush
4) Wash (2 bucket) - https://www.carcareproducts.com.au/p...eon/q2m_bathe_ & https://www.carcareproducts.com.au/p...n/q2m_smoothie
5) Wipe down - https://www.carcareproducts.com.au/p...k_drying_towel
6) Blow all excess water (car & wheels) - https://www.carcareproducts.com.au/p...torcycle_dryer

This is the Autobrite Magi foam, it goes on thick and sticks to the car for 15-20 mins before rinsing.

The end product...
