More info on race mode
I have individual sent to Sport+ with suspension in sport regular and auto shifting.
Is there a way to set individual to race power with auto shifting?
The difference might just be in throttle response and gearbox settings.
I spend 95%+ of my time with my individual set up as engine in race, suspension in comfort(equivalent to sport due to kw has), manual shifting and esp fully off (to save on rear brake pads).
Curreny having to change rear pads every 12k miles. I'm waiting on my delivery from porterfield at the moment. Hopefully they'll be a little better.
Just wondering if the button still works with KW HAS?? Cause the suspension in mine is rock hard, it'll either break me or itself.
And how comfy does it get with an aftermarket suspension?
Cheers, Morocco

If you want to see how it did in race mode against a tuned M3, the plot is attached.
You can run manual shift in any mode by just selecting it and vice versa, you can run race mode in auto... which actually does a really good job and the down shift sound amazing when hard on the brakes.
Race mode has 15 more HP and I would love to tell you the torque but we couldn't get the single off the coil pack that day.
And I wouldn't follow any break in protocols... Useless. It's an AMG! Drive it like you stole it.
Release the cracken!!!!
But seriously... that's what warranty is for. Give that thing a little throttle. I was pushing just over 120mph on the second day.
- gives sharper throttle response
- stiffens engine mounts
- needs manual shifting
- disables ESP more (but still not completely off)
- uses even more sportier ECU behavior than Sport+
Please correct me when wrong.
You can just use the paddles to shift early in normal driving and it will shift down OK.
I dyno'd my car using Sport + then Race, back to back due to my curiousity as well. They put down the same power/tq with the delta looking identically linear as well.
I'm guessing the changes are in throttle response, possible trans changes and changes in traction logic.
My car has only been in Race mode once or twice when I accidentally shifted into it, and then quickly shifted out. One of these days I will play with that but Sports+ seems to handle my driving needs (Autobahn vs drag strip).
Good a place as any for two stories, both related to my taking Euro delivery on my current AMG.
I obeyed the break in instructions until 1,800 kms (1,100+ miles), only increasing gradually after 1,500 kms. Then I was on the perfect road doing 130 kpm (multi-lane autobahn toll road, almost empty, apparently just opened days before) and a BMW M4 came up fast behind me, slowed to look me over, and took it back up to what his speed governor probably allowed (250 kph). I followed, caught up, and passed him doing 260 kph (160+). No drama, the AMG was rock steady. My lady friend was oblivious to all of this, engrossed in the music she had playing.
A week later, we were driving through southern Sweden and pulled off to get gas and coffee. I noticed a number of BMWs also gassing up but did not think much about it while we went inside to get coffee. When we came out we were surrounded by BMWs (30+ cars), with many people interested in my car. It was club event and a number of people asked to hear my engine with the Performance Exhaust option, apparently an option not available on cars sold there. I gave them what they wanted, complimented a couple of them on their after-market additions, and we left. Soon after we passed two cars pulled over by the police (the only ones we saw in all of Sweden, so possibly targeting the club event) and I made it a point to strictly obey the posted speed limit.
