So I discussed with the premier powerdercoating and ceramic coating shop in Tampa pros and cons of ceraming coating the inside and outside of the exhaust. They said the outside provided a lot more thermal efficiency than the out. But if I wanted to decrease heat transfer even more efficiently than ceramic coating the interior & exterior, their suggestion was to ceramic coat the exterior twice. Plus it saves time & money, since there's no additional prep time. Just some time to allow the first ceramic coat to cure, and they'd coat it a second time. So that's what I went with. Being that you can't see these pipes when installed (unless on a lift), I opted for the best thermal coating irrespective of appearance. So I went with a "bare" looking black.
Just ordered some! I'm about an hour drive from Tampa, can you post or send me a message of the shop that did the coating & who you went for install?
As a suggestion for those that want to do this and don't want to drop the transmission, shop around for a set of OEM take-offs and cut off the secondary cats. So, when the day comes to sell it or return it to stock, you can drop the transmission then. In other words, you only incur the labor cost once. Not twice.
