Widest tires for front and rear on stock edition 1 wheels?

hey all! Sorry for all of the questions, but I can't seem to find much info after searching.

Ive got a sedan by the way!

Whats the widest I can go on front and rear on some OEM 19" Edition 1 wheels? 255/35 and 275/35? Thanks!

They're 8.5 and 9.5" wide (front and rear). I don't believe you can fit much wider than a 265 up front regardless due to clearance and the rear you should be able to get a 285/295 on a 9.5" wheel depending on the make of the tire, it really comes down to which tire and if it'll fit based on what the manufacturer states.

I've personally fit 285/35/19 on the rear with a 57 Offset wheel (if I'm recalling correctly the offset) and it had loads of room. Fair to say a spacer in the rear and the right tire you can go wider but with out doing some research myself, I wouldn't plan to go wider than 285/295 on the stock rear wheel.

I would go 275/35 (Ideal) or 285/35 (Max)

Yes the correct (Largest size) on a sedan with stock wheels is 255 front and 275 rear if you want to keep the same ratio as factory.

A larger tire will go on the rim and it will fit in the wheel well but it will not be correct.

If you listen to the experts as to how large a tire is proper on a rim look at the tire rack numbers.

The largest (proper fit)on a 81/2 rim is 255 and the largest on a 91/2 rim is 285 but using that throws the ratio from front to rear off SO again --using factory rims on a sedan the largest PROPER size is 255 front and 275 rear.

Thank you!

What tires should I order for more grip over the 265 stock michelins?

maybe some Hankook RS4?

For general use I think the new Mich 4S sounds great.
Some here have them and like them and Car and Driver had a recent test and they won.

If you feel you need more grip than what the PSS provides I'd have to wonder where you are using the car (is it cold??) or if you just make much more than stock power.

The best two options above a PSS is the P4S and Toyo R888 - anything else DOT street tire wise would be a waste.

The car is getting DPs and a tune in 2 weeks. I'm trying to prepare lol.

P4S in 285/265 might be the winner here for me. I have a 28 mile commute to work so I'd rather not use R888 which howl like a coyote and wear out in 2 months XD

Yeah 285/265 setup would be very much the same as the 275/255 stock setup and you'll be fine.

If you're DD'ing the car (I drive the same distance each day with mine) I'd go P4S or PSS depending (as you already have the PSS).

I'm switching to the Multispoke wheel and PSS combo this saturday, as my S currently has the Dunlops (which are "Meh" at best) both in stock sizes and my car is stock other than a DTE Tuning box.

From the Car and Driver tests, that the 4S won, the Continental Extreme Contact Sport was very good also and better in the wet if you don't live where it is dry most of the time. (and cheaper)

oversized tires do more harm to performance than benefit.

get good compound in the appropriate size and call it a day IMO. Or get different wheels so you can fit a wider tire.

Anything more than 255 on an 8.5 is retarded.

Do you all think a 255/30/19 and 285/30/19 would look weird or should I stick with 35 series sidewall?

By staying with the 35 it will ride better and also fill the wheel well more if you are not going to drop it.

I have Weistec ecu flash, downpipe, high flow filter and running on stock 19 inch size with Pirelli Trofeo R. So far I am very happy with it because it can really handle all the power!
