Anyone getting "Check Coolant Level" warning?
I only have 4500 miles on her and recently when car is cold and starting her up, I see "Check coolant level" warning in display. But after maybe 30 seconds, it goes away.
Anyone else having this issue? I don't believe this is normal? I hope it is not a sign of something bad to come.

interesting, though i haven't had this issue i have smelled coolant twice now randomly for no reason. Wondering if there is a leak... let us know if you find anything out.

Have you, you know, checked the coolant level? Maybe it's right at the point where it triggers the level sensor when the engine isn't running, and if you add an ounce of water to it it will be fine until they top it off at your next service.

I am not worried that it is actually low. What I worry about is should a seemingly new car have this issue. I hope it is not leaking somewhere.

Unlikely, but if you fill it, and it doesn't go back down, that kinda rules out the leak.
MB cars seem to all consume coolant, I don't understand why or how, but they all do it. If you don't top the reservoir off at service time, it often won't make it another 10k miles without showing the warning light. It's possible the PDI on your new car skipped that step and it just finally fell enough to trip the warning.

I got a 2016 on Sept 2015 and I got the warning light in March. I checked it and it was fine. A couple of days later I got it and I checked again...It was fine. I drove it for about 10 miles. Got to my destination and when I got out of the car and walked to the store, all of a sudden I heard a hissing noise and coolant starts spraying everywhere and my reservoir was drained. I had to tow it to the dealership. It was one of the clips that holds the coolant hose. It was lose and it didn't hold the coolant line properly. Maybe a coincidence but who knows? Fast forward a year (2016 model hydrolocked although I never drove it over water or anything...) I got a 2017 on September and I just got the coolant warning again. It seems to be a common occurrence but now question is what is the part number for the pink coolant?

Ok so I checked the level of the coolant and indeed it was low...it is way below the black bar. So I have an appointment tomorrow with the dealer. They said they need to check for leaks. I will keep you guys updated.

I had warning once and checked it and it was maybe 4-6 ounces low and after I filled it it has not come back after 6k miles.

I only checked the overflow tank per the instructions on the manual. The big tank to the left of the engine. Mine was like 1 inch lower than the black bar.

I'm confused as to how that can happen when you didn't drive through standing water or get soaked....

If you're paying attention, that is.

Hey guys,
I'm having this problem now. Low Coolant Level Light comes on only when I start the card cold, then goes away once warmed up.
I know answer to fix it is to add some water or go to MB to have them top it off.
My question is... where is the darn level marking on the expansion reservoir? I unscrew the top cap, and I'm looking in, and I only see 2 metal prongs sticking up... no markings, no level indicator saying where the MIN and MAX levels are. Can someone help me out with that? I even called my local MB service advisor and they say that the markings are on the actual reservoir, but I looked everywhere and I don't see a MIN or MAX marking anywhere.

Might be right on the level sensor, the metal prongs you see. Likely they open/close a circuit that triggers the warning. Some liquids, not all, expand when heated.

I looked on the 2 metal prongs sticking up -- no markings. I'm assuming those 2 metal prongs sticking up are the sensors. And I'm assuming the coolant is expanding, which is why it needs an expansion reservoir and why the error goes away once the engine is warm.

After the dealer topped it off, I haven't had issue since.

Had the dealer just top it off for me, but my original question was... the marker for the MIN and MAX levels. Are these them? amg8 mentioned a black bar at the end of the reservoir...
When I asked the guy who topped off my coolant at the MB dealership, he goes "Oh, we just keep filling it up until it's reasonably full" lol... very helpful haha. I haven't been able to look at the level yet as the engine is still hot. Gonna check when it's cool.

GLK350 coolant level low
Its actually in the manual. There is a black bar at the back of the reservoir and you want the coolant to be atleast half way covering the black bar. When I checked mine, the coolant was way under the black bar and thus triggered the warning.
After the dealer topped it off, I haven't had issue since.

S550 Coolant Level
Just got this warning today on my W221 S550 it has gotten colder in the DC area this weekend so maybe the coolant is low. Also after it warmed up the warning went away. Im gonna check the level and want to be able to add more coolant level to it does anyone recommend a coolant?
